Because you care

Rather than scattering 'new' gif's through my pages, I maintain this log of revisions & additions. I tend to 'garden' my pages, wandering through them on a regular basis, culling here, re-wording there, planting, transplanting & weeding.

If you're looking for information in a hurry, or for something specific, go to Searching Tips for lots of information on
how to search these pages, and navigate them faster.

Latest updates are on the links page, also on burial and funeral pages. Telling you about a new book, called Holistic Gardening, and also the recently formed Natural Earth Burial Society. Look for the flashing "new" graphics.

And for those of you who are interested in following up stories about the late Val Plumwood, (see entry for 2nd.May) there are three excellent interview transcripts on ABC Radio Nationals website:
15 March 2008 - Philosophy and the Natural World - Val Plumwood
http://www.abc.net.au/rn/philosopherszone/stories/2008/2186088.htm
15 September 2007 - Can environmental philosophy save the world?
http://www.abc.net.au/rn/philosopherszone/stories/2007/2029552.htm
21 July 2007 - Philosophy from a female point of view

2nd.May 2008
I've made some minor changes to the Home Page, and re-arranged Re-earthing the Cities. I was particularly keen to add a quote from the work of the late Dr.Val Plumwood, who is the only person I've come across so far whose thinking and philosophy is really close to my own. I hope soon to add some links about this amazing woman to my Inpsirations & Resources page.
I've also updated the ARPA Choir sample programme

28th.February 2008
I've finished updating the plant lists - of particular interest may be Biennials &Annuals on which I've made notes about how things have dealt with the drought.
There could be some typos. as I've had to finish it in a hurry - please email me if you find any.

May 2008 peaceful and fulfilling year for all my visitors.
I've made a number of important, although small, updates over the last few months. These include an expansion of my own Lifestyle page, first loaded on 2nd.August 2007, and several new external links. A Tribute to Grandmother Spider appears among the links on The Story of the RainbowWeb page, and a link to Freegan World has been added to my Earthy Links page.
I've also removed the reply to a letter I answered back in the mid-90s, about re-using old tyres - this is no longer relevant, as proper facilities for recycling tyres are now commonly available, also most tyres now contain much more in the way of heavy metals than they used to, making them less eco-friendly.

5th.August 2007
This seemed a good time to update the page about firewood, so I've done it.
This is a controversial subject, especially in some urban areas, but I hope I've addressed it fairly, even though I use a wood stove myself.
I've also added a link to The Food Forests' Energy Efficient House page/Short Course on the Sustainable Solutions page

2nd.August 2007
Even though this website has been up since 1998, I've hestitated to write too directly about the way I live for a number of reasons. The most important is that I don't want to appear judgemental, boastful, or to be taking the high moral ground. Another is that, since 1988, I have been, and am, conducting a huge long-term experiment, so what I do keeps changing, and I can't guarantee that I'll keep up with the documentation of these changes on the website. But people keep asking.
So here, with apologies, is a page which lists very briefly the way I live

**********************************************************

Webmasters! There is no excuse for crashing someone else's browser!
In fact it's a form of discrimination!
There are many good reasons why people are still using older OSs. Older browsers are not memory hungry, and make internet access possible for many who would not otherwise have it.
It is true that some 'free' hosts cover their costs by loading their servers with unsolicited ads.which are responsible for the crash, NOT the author of the page.
Web Authors - if this has happened to you
Talk to them - Geocities and Yahoo stopped doing it because we made a fuss!
As for poor html code - if your web programme doesn't give good results, learn to write basic html, or better still, XML, yourself. It's not hard. And you have much better control. Before you add too many bells and whistles, ask yourself whether they really enhance the site.
Visit the THE ANYBROWSER CAMPAIGN for more information.

Please note that I am no longer hosting the PASA website.
The files have now been transferred to the Food Forest website, and Annemarie Brookman has taken on the task of learning html, and the responsibility for keeping them up to date.
I enjoyed re-designing and rebuilding this site, but hosting it uses valuable space which I need for my own work. Redirection pages will remain at the old 'address' for some months, but will eventually be removed so
Please update your bookmarks or Favourites with the new URL: http://www.permaculturesa.org.au/

BE DIFFERENT! BE DARING! DO SOMETHING! DON'T LEAVE IT TO OTHERS!
LIVE WHAT YOU BELIEVE!

A heartfelt thankyou to everyone who has sent me email & positive feedback - it's SO good to be reminded there really is someone out there!

If you find a broken link, PLEASE email me. There are email links on all the main pages, you shouldn't have to go far to find one, & it is really helpful to any webperson when people take the trouble to do this.
