How about joining the local CFS

Being in the CFS is a great way to meet new friends and also put something back into the community.

Volunteer time in all CFS brigades is used for saving lives, property and the envirnoment. All volunteers are members because they care about the local community.

We have a number of different areas within the organisation. One of which you may be able to assist us with, these positions are open to both males and females:

Cadets - Firefighters - Auxiliary Members

Cadets: This area of the CFS, caters for the younger members, preparing them to become full active members of the CFS ideally cadets should be aged from 14-16yrs, but we also will accept cadets as young as 11yrs.

Firefighters: You are only expected to do a basic Level 1 course, which teaches basic firefighting and use of CFS equipment. Some members choose to continue on and do many more courses that are provided to them by the CFS.

Auxiliary Members: Members in this section of the brigade are not required to do any firefighting courses. You can be asked to assist with various tasks, preparing meals for fireground personnel, radio and phone work, but training in these areas is also provided should you want it.

If you are interested in any of these positions or have any questions about helping the Goolwa CFS out. Come into the Goolwa CFS Station on a Monday night at 7pm and talk to the Captain or anyone else there.

Being involved with the CFS provides you with the oppurtunity to help yourself and your community in an emergency. Training is provided in many areas from First Aid to Leadership, along with training in various forms of firefighting, and rescue work.

You will be called on to perform many tasks and duties, some will be fun, some glamerous, others might not be. At the end of the day, you know that you were part of a team that was able to put others in front of yourself and help people in your community, when they need help most.
