Hmm, yeah, so stuff happens... don't want to talk about it here... Life goes on and its time to look forward... the future is what you make of it

Never let me loose in a Megamart store again =D In the space of 10 minutes, I bought a new cordless phone to replace the current one which is like 7 years old and the battery being constantly charged after every use, making it beep after 10 minutes of talking... Second thing was a new kettle (because it was on special! =P) and Simcity 4 (again.... it was on special 20% off! :D). This adds another $300 or so onto the credit card bill... oh well...
Mum wants to go to Myer tomorrow in the city, but we have an important event happening tomorrow... =D

Well, seem like that blogger has finally moved me onto the "new blogger" system which is meant to be better! Haven't been able to use the w.bloggar program to publish lately which has been a pain. Blogger looks a lot better now... I'm thinking of moving the archives onto a separate page anyways, and I think they allow you to do that now more easily =)
My last day of work today, as we have finished what we are meant to do and everything is almost completed. The next period of work will be in August but hopefully I will have a full-time job by then, but if not, I can always go work there. Its pretty good as they are relaxed about it and everyone seems to work together (well, the people that I worked with this time did) so its all happy =) Also got paid today so I'm extra happy... not having to get up early tomorrow and also having money to spend =D

Condensation anyone? The past few nights have been getting cold... really cold... like this morning at 8am it was only about 3 degrees. The condensation from our aluminium windows is pretty bad the past few days. I even found some mould (doesn't that require warmth?) near the window ledge and the water starts to run onto the wooden floor, so we have to be careful it doesn't ruin the floor boards...
Tonight on TV they were showing a special to Tasmania, what you could do and all that. I think I want to go there... its so peaceful and clean =P I'm not proposing to go there in the middle of winter though, its just a little too cold at this time of the year. =)

Things are looking better? Not wanting to speculate, but the manager at work asked me whether I was free in July for some work in East Melbourne. He was going to put my name forward and see what happens. Not sure exactly what will happen with that but maybe that will give me something to do next month... hmm.. which is coming up next week. Guess I'll find out soon enough.
Work today was only from 10am - 4pm but tomorrow its back to early mornings with a 8am start. Everyone is kind of happy that its almost over I think =)

Let out of work early today as we were all extremely bored =P It was only about 1 hour early but it was good. We also start later tomorrow at 10am instead of 7... so I get to sleep in! =) Will probably finish up on Friday, I don't think I want to work this weekend. =P I also went and worked last night at my other job, from 6 to 10:30pm so I was completely stuffed last night.
Next week will be the first "real" week of my holidays, even though I have been on holidays since last week! Not thinking of doing too much, probably just working a bit and looking for a proper job.... still no luck there, just applying for general IT jobs, hopefully something comes up soon, but I'm not holding my breath. I think I will give it until uni starts again before starting to look for jobs in other fields, like finance, which I *think* I will be able to work in, since I'm already working in the industry now... sometimes I think I should have done masters in business or something (don't think that I would get into an MBA course) as I would have a better chance of finding a proper job.... but anyways... got my HECS/PELS liability thing today... only $31k... thought it would be more... probably want to pay off some of it in the next year... and take the 15% discount =)

So another day, another 8 hours spent moving stuff around, from here to there to upstairs... its all a bit of a "don't think about what you are doing" job which involves handing out and getting back baskets of script books four times.... *sigh* It will be all done by Tuesday (so the boss predicts... uhh... demands) so everyone is working quite quickly now. All the teachers are under pressure to do a good job, but at the fastest possible rate. We have bascially cleared one of the three rooms of baskets, they have been in and out four times and have been sent upstairs, where we will make sure they are in order and all that....
Basically my day starts out at 5:45am every morning, get to work about 6:50am... work until around 9am and we take our morning tea, then lunch at 12 noon and afternoon tea around 2pm. Finish at 3 and drive home.... then basically do nothing... These early mornings aren't what I am meant to do... espcially after all those years of late nights... oh well.. only this week to go... then wait for payday! =)
I have to find a "real" job soon as well, as with only one subject at uni this semester, I will spend a lot of time doing "not much" if I don't have something to keep myself busy =P

Have been missing for the past few days as I've been very very tired from work. Its getting there though, with some interesting stuff happenning I guess, just playing politics (which I didn't think was possible for a job with such short duration!) and shifting blame... *sigh* oh well, write more later tonight... finally think I have caught up on sleep now =P

Its so good, I have a day off today, there isn't *that* much work to do during the week so we are all taking a day off instead of coming in later in the day. Its soooo good I can't believe it! Got to sleep in this morning and do nothing! =D
Yesterday was ok at work, not much apart from the usual stuff that has been happenning for the past few days. We went to Chadstone last night as they had a VIP sale betweeen 6-10pm and bought a few things, most stores just had an extra 10% off everything in store but I guess it worked, the car parks were packed (lucky we got there early) and people everywhere! We bought a new mini-vacuum cleaner thingy for the bathroom and generally around the place for little things and a new wool doona which was already on special (not a special special!)... 30% off plus the shareholder discount from Myer =)
Not sure what I want to do today, probably go out and walk around during the day, as I haven't seen much of the daytime lately, its usually dark when I go to work and sunset when I leave work =D

Another day, another early morning and another full day of work. Got some good (or bad) news today saying that we can take turns at starting at 8am instead of 7am as there isn't that much work at 7am in the morning. Good as I get to sleep in for one hour but bad as it means less money =P Didn't do too much today, just accepted the baskets after they were marked by the teachers and scanned them back in. Boring but good work I guess, doesn't take much thinking =P

Woot! Finally exams are over... with the double exam today in the morning and afternoon. So happy just to finish, I think the results don't matter as much.... well until they come out, I just don't care! :D First exam was web based systesm which was ok, didn't think I did *that* well or badly, probably happy with a C mark and with the assignment results pushing me up to a D mark overall! Afternoon exam was IS security, it sucked =( I'm sure I did ok, but not overly great and I just found myself dumping crap down on the page in the hope of making it into something that sounds ok and relevant to the topic. Dunno...
Tomorrow morning I start work at 7am, so gonna go to bed early I think... have to get up at like 5:45am or something *sigh*

Forgot to mention yesterday that the job that I was doing (there are lots of little tasks that you have to do) was sorting a bundle of 200 books.... I actually used a sorting algorithm... (nerd hat on) using a divide and conquer technique and splitting the 200 into 4 bundles, then using the more traditional technique of grouping into their respective groups 1-10, 11-20, etc and sorting each pile (nerd hat off)

Well, had another busy day today working. Its not that the work is hard, just that getting up early is a major problem :D
[content removed for security concerns]
I went to my "usual" work last night but asked if I could finish early which they allowed so I got home about 10:30pm. That work was really crap as there are still no proper procedures to what we should do when we are balancing. I have no idea when that will all get sorted out but I don't think I am working that much anyways there until after the end of financial year (30/6).
Still studying for my exams in between doing all that... arrrghh.. they are on Monday!!! Not really panic but just, again, a sense of not knowing what exactly to study for and how hard the exam will be. Hopefully it will be OK! =) Hmm, on the tv just now, they had the show "Strip Search" which is basically a reality tv show about forming a strip troupe thing (ie, Manpower) This was followed immediately by the family movie Curly Sue.... surely they could do something about the programming *sigh* =P

Its early... really really early, can't believe that I am up at this time, not to mentioned, washed, dressed and ready to go to work. Geez =( Had a really long day yesterday, I will probably write about it this afternoon when I get back from work. *sigh*

So went out today (again) and went to David Jones to check out the sales. There was some stuff there that was cheap, but not really that much. Bought a pair of pants which are for Summer/Autumn wear which was reduced from $139 to $55 so that was ok =) Had a look and tried on some other pants but they didn't look that good and they had the button up fly (geez, how annoying is that) so didn't buy them. Probably go have a look at Myers sometime next week... maybe pick up some tops or something.. Another few hundred dollars on the visa card =D
Starting work tomorrow at the casual job which runs till the end of the month. Its 7 days a week, 8am-4pm for tomorrow and the weekend, then 7am-3pm after that till the finish. Which reminds me, I should be studying more instead of going shopping... =P Ooh, almost forgot that I got a haircut, asked the person not to cut it too short as its gonna be cold... brrrrrr!

Spent the day trying not to do much... but ended up doing quite a bit of running around organising stuff.... first off it was off to the bank to deposit a cheque that is from the US, *sigh* 28 working days hold on it as it is a foreign cheque, luckily its not me who's waiting for the money :D Then it was off to drop of some forms at medicare and getting groceries and stuff. There are also the "clearance" sales on starting tomorrow, they even had a segment on it on A Current Affair... showing how much you can save off stuff. Probably should go and see if there is anything to pick up there. =)
Started studying for next week by reading some notes and having a look at the past exams, not sure how I will do as I have no idea how to study for IS security and the web based systems one is just a collection of general knowledge (well, I consider it general knowledge) about building websites and the like. Dunno, just prepare by reading a lot I guess...

Woot! The exam today was "not that hard" and I should do ok in it, enough hopefully to get a good mark even! =) The review questions actually had almost all the questions, just some parts weren't there. The long answer questions were all in the review questions. Luckily we at least had an idea of how to answer each question. Now I have 6 days to study for my two exams next Monday! Should be ok as well! =)
Hmmm.. less than one hour before the exam starts and I'm still not sure what I will need. Geez. Hopefully it all goes well, really hope what I have learnt is enough to get a decent mark... not hoping for a HD or anything (don't even think that I have a chance to get that!)... well.. off to the exam I go...

*Sigh* My internet connection is slowed by a fault. Apparently some big telephone company has reprogrammed the links to my ISP and made them about 100 times smaller than they are, so the ISP is now trying to get them to fix it. Being a public holiday here today/tonight, it may take some serious time to get back on track. Now I know how it feels like to be surfing on a dial up modem again... only its a 36kbps dial up modem =(
Doesn't help when I'm trying to look up stuff for the exam tomorrow... geez... back to the study...

Had a productive afternoon studying with Alcee at the foodcourt in Melbourne Central. We went there because it was too crowded in the RMIT library and being a public holiday, the state library was closed =( A few of the foodstores closed at 4pm and we thought it was getting dark, so we left just before 5pm. Now hopefully I can remember all the stuff that I need tomorrow in the exam. Still have no idea what we will face due to the lack of past exams.

Yay, almost done with this course in MYOB that I am doing, just one more stage left of the assginment. Also did some study today so I feel very productive =) This was after I woke up around 11:00am. Last night was so frustrating, doing balancing when people can't get their jobs right. We also get told to do different things by different people, leaving me wondering what the hell do I actually do. Some people at work are apparently unhappy with what is happening (can't agree on which is the right way to do things) and so they are having big fight over it I think, so I've heard.
I've started reading the notes for data warehousing which is my first exam.. on Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully I will go ok! They put up some review questions so I will probably do answers to those and maybe meet up with Alcee to see what ideas she has on Monday. Also starting the "GAT script management" job on Friday and that will run till the end of the month! Oooh, its Friday the 13th this week =P
I would have posted this entry earlier, but blogger seems to be down at the moment, so I guess it will have to wait... =(

Geez, finished at 12:20am at work tonight. Everyone still there was just glad it was all over, especially before a long weekend. Oh well, will write more later when I wake up (whenever that is!)
Friday, June 06, 2003
Woohoo! Finally finished the IS security assignment, was about 3970 words or so. It was over 4000 including the inline references which aren't counted so I just arbitrarily subtracted about 50 words for those! =) First time in a long time that there has been nothing in the "due" column! Now just have to study for exams the first of which is on Tuesday. Its a long weekend here this weekend (Queen's Birthday) but I don't think I'll be going anywhere, just studying. =(
Its so windy today, there were some doors (ie, my car) that when you open them, it was either impossible to open as it was pushing up wind or impossible to close if you were facing down wind. I think its a bit calmer outside now. Not looking forward to the walk to and from work tonight though, but hopefully it won't be a) pouring down rain and b) windy as during the day AND pouring down rain! =P

Geez, did I jinx myself or something with the last entry. *sigh* I got an email saying that I was suitable for the situation, but that I was ranked 3rd and they require only two people. They will contact me if they require a third person. Dunno, just have to keep trying I guess.
Didn't post yesterday as I was quite busy =P I called the person that called me yesterday about the job and had an interview on the same day. The interview was in Moorabin (quite far away!) so I drove down there. It was ok and I think that it went well. I should find out soon whether I get it or not. Its only a temporary job for 2-3 months, starting in July till the end of the September. Also finished my parts of the web-based assignment and done the first draft of the IS Secuirty assignment. Have to do a serious edit of it as I think some of the stuff there doesn't sound right! Still have to write the introduction and conclusion but at least its about 3600 words now so should make the word limit requirements (between 3800 and 4500 words) =)
Went to a Japanese restaurant called Shira Nui in Glen Waverley with Eliza last night. We tried to go there once before but they were full. They only have a sushi bar and about 5 tables, so normally we would have to book but I guess it was quiet as it was a Wednesday. It wasn't too expensive but the food is a lot different than the "Chinese" Japanese restaurants =P I think a lot better!

Hmm, Sunday night, the people upstairs had a party which kind of annoyed us (just slightly! =P). If it wasn't for the jumping up and down, it was certainly what was there on Monday morning when we openned the blinds to the balcony and a large spurt of vomit greeted us. Geez! So now we have made them pay for it to be cleaned up (although there is no guarantee) and if there is anything else that they do wrong, they will be kicked out.
On a more cheerful note, =P I have to call this person back about a job that I applied for which is 2-3 months full time in July. Hopefully I get something for this and it is a stepping stone for other jobs. I will hopefully have finished the web-based systems assignment by tonight, at least most of it and some of the IS security paper, which is turning out to be much harder to write. It is 4000 words =P

Hmm, well, everything I think is going well with the 2 final assignments. I'm not sure though, maybe its just the lack of confidence in myself to get it done and done well. Dunno. Worked tonight and it was actually ok, not too much work to do and didn't make (that many) mistakes =P
Had the final lecture for web-based systems this afternoon and he talked about the exam, without actually talking about it. He gave a review of the whole semester but there wasn't much in the way of what would be on the exam. Just a lot of stuff to throw us off. =( Have two more lectures tomorrow and that will be the end of lectures, till my one subject next semester. Hopefully find some permanent full time job next semester so I can earn some money =P
