Waaaah... I got my Christmas card from Su Ann today, even though she had doubts as to whether it got sent of or not :P Fortunately I was able to pry open the envelope (thanks to Su Ann for SUPERGLUING it together) and didn't find any white powder inside :P I'll be sure to munch on the candycane and become addicted like her :D Oooh... and a big congrats goes out to the aforementioned person for getting straight As... *coughsmartycough* :)

Other than that excitement, there has been nothing... Work has been, well, work. Not much happening except for complaining that the air con was not working and was actually blowing out hot air... *sigh* They fixed it last night/this morning... and yes... it lasted about 2 hours before dying again.. came back, reset it, then 30 mins later... yep... *double sigh* Got pretty far with my "summer project" and its just a matter of customising the reports to do what I want them to do now. Had to make a few changes as doing it the proper (the way I wanted to) way was waaaayyyy too hard...

Finally, having dinner with some friends tonight down in Glen Waverley, so that should be good. And New Year's Eve is tomorrow.. omg... must get around to organising something later on tonight then... heh :P

Geez... being on holidays is hard work :P Today is the third day of the four day weekend and its like... uhh... I'm pooped.. I can't be bothered getting out and doing something.... eventually decided to go out... bought a new pair of sunglasses B-) so I'm all happy... much improved over my old (broken) pair... much cheaper than my old pair too :P

Been meaning to get this job application done and it might actually get done tonight, considering there is a void of what can be called entertainment on tv and I'm really over the going out thing for the time being. I think there is a choice of... Gilmore Girls *double* episode, Hook (the Peter Pan movie) and Still Standing (some sitcom) bleh! I think the job app is the most interesting thing out of those :P

Organised to go out on Tuesday night with some friends to celebrate Christmas and New Year (some people are going to be working on NYE) and still trying to organise something for Wednesday night. I'm sure alcohol would have to be involved somewhere that night :) lol The major bummer being that I have to work on Friday (bah) but hopefully it will be a short day [sarcasm] I'm sure that soooo many people will be at work that day [/sarcasm] :P

THE Christmas Lunch... went to a family friend's to have lunch today... started around 12 or so.... got home a bit before 5pm... so full... must have indulged in my "quota" of alcohol in one day. Good food, good drinks and good company.. all you can ask for for a relaxing afternoon :) Now to sleep the food off... lol :P I broke my sunglasses today though... so now I'll go and brave the masses tomorrow and find a new pair... ahh the joys of post xmas shopping... :P

Received my first Christmas card yesterday from Cor. :) It was a bit smudged (lefties.. I dunno) but still much neater than my writing I think :P I think everyone that I sent cards to has got them... I guess I can leave it till another day later next year... lol :P Everyone has given us chocolates this year... so if I don't get fat at all those Christmas parties, I'll get fat just eating the chocolate... although, we did get some nice cookies from our neighbour (not that its non-fattening) :) but who am I to worry about getting fat :P

*yawn* This is turning out to be a long 3 day week. Time just drags on when theres not much happening at work, bosses are off on holidays. Just at work to finish some stuff. Its going to be short days next week hopefully.. although that means less pay :( It'd be good to get time off and get paid... :P

I'm thinking that I take things too personally... dunno... maybe thats true... Its like.. even though I knew that getting the job would have been good, I put too much hope into it... so wasn't feeling too good last night. Have another job that I *may* have a shot at that closes in a few days, so I'm feeling a bit better. I just hope someone has a plan for me out there... because I sure as hell don't.. bleh. I can't drift through life and working as a casual... I *must* find a career...

Bah humbug... got a phone call this morning saying I didn't get the job that I interviewed for on Thursday... so yeah... an early unwanted Christmas present... bleh! Not even sure what I am doing at work, there's not much to do. Must get started on my "summer" project to move things from a spreadsheet to a database... just have to figure out how I do that now... and make it somewhat usable :P

Wasn't feeling all that well yesterday... missed Fel and Vince's settlement party and just slept most of the afternoon away... felt much better after that... probably just a combination of heat and tiredness from work all adding up. Bleh....

Went to Chris' and down to Wambercell Junction to play pool. Met his gf, Vanessa, for the first time. Shot a few hours of pool, had a few drinks... all in all a good night. Something not too heavy... because I think that I wouldn't have survived otherwise :P Now to organise a dinner to catch up with everyone after Christmas... hopefully it won't be raining like it did today... geez :P

Finally got around to opening some of the (numerous) forwarded emails I get... This one was rather funny, along with the other Saddam ones... lol :D

Went to Happy Cup last night with Chui... it was good... this must be the most frequent time I've been there... heh... but NO I'm not even going to get close to being addicted :P Walked around the old high school. How much its changed... in the.. uhh.. 8 (?) years since I left...

This is truly the season to get fat I tell ya... uggg... many hours later and still full... one of the people who came to lunch today said that I was a wuss for going back and taking an umbrella... well... what a surprise it was then when the same person shared the umbrella with me on the way back from lunch because it was pouring down with rain :P Train ride home was steamy tonight.... stupid people who don't realise that you can open the windows so that a breeze can flow through the carriage... *sigh*

Wow... its 100 years since the Wright brothers took off in Kitty Hawk... How far we have come in those 100 years. Just makes you appreciate that without innovation and pushing the boundaries, we will not be where we are today and the future would not be as exciting :)

There was a bit of a change tonight so its not so oppressive tonight... might actually get a decent night's sleep :P

An account of the past few days...

Its the week before Christmas, and all everyone can think about is... the HEAT... arrghh.. :P We're lucky, our area is the only section that has air conditioning at the moment at work. A total a/c failure in the main section of the floor... 3rd time in as many weeks, so people are just trying to work... apparently its like 29 degrees inside over there... mean while I'm sitting back and enjoying the a/c... usually its us that lose it when it fails :)

Monday was so so, got a call about the job that I applied for last week... having an interview tomorrow just over the road so hopefully I do well for it :) Also have a lunch tomorrow with some of the department managers where one of my bosses is paying for it :) So... a busy day tomorrow... might also be meeting up with Chui tomorrow after she was stalking me from the bus on her way to work :P

Hmm.. what else, not much I don't think, just the usual work and all that. Sent out my Christmas cards... some of the local ones would have got there today or tomorrow... who knows when the international ones will arrive... that is... AlCee, Cor, Linah and Su Ann who should be expecting their cards soon-ish :P

Oh the heat... 30+ temperatures and no air con at home makes for a hot night and lack of sleep... It seems as though its like... Thursday... but its like.. Tuesday only :( Had the second unit lunch... at a different restaurant... was pretty nice and nice and cool inside... :) *sigh*.. I'm too hot to type with any sense so I'll leave stuff till later... if it cools down that is...

Hmm... looking on my calender at work, no, I'm not AT work, just checking it remotely from home ;)... it seems as those everything that is hapenning next week is a scoial function. I thought last week was already quite a bit... but there's another two lunches next week... only have to pay for one of them... although, the other one we're meant to pay for drinks... I've come to the realisation that I have consumed quite a bit of champagne in the last few weeks.. it started with drinks to celebrate the end of the process back in mid November and every week, there has been at least one celebration of sorts... last week there was a twist, they put blackcurrant (?) with the champagne... that was a bit different but tasted goood :) ahh.. the ramblings of someone getting used to their dose of alc*hic*ohol... lol ... As I said last week, its going to tough going to all those lunches and all that this coming week :P

Finally finished writing out Christmas cards.. some local which will get there the next day and some not so local... I haven't sent out cards for a few years now.. usually only send a birthday card to some closer friends... who knows... is this a change for the better? :P I just hope people can read my writing... muwhahahaha :D

Once again, thanks to the people at quizilla... what would we do in our spare time if we didn't have mindless quizes to tell us about our lives :P Finally was able to sleep in till late-ish this morning... well.. I woke up early.. just didn't get up... I guess thats a start... so... the quiz tells me that I'm... arrghh :P

I believe I should right some wrongs, so I should name people in my blog links... well... most people, there are some that don't want to be named... :P I'll start off by linking to Linah (aka the evil one) who is bored sitting in Dubai.... and Su Ann who is the one fighting the cycle of sleeping during the day and being wide awake at night... so there happy now? :P

Bleh... Friday afternoon... train brings down overhead power... *sigh*... tried to get away early from work, luckily I did, the train ended up running... uhh.. was meant to get to Blackburn at 4:22pm but got there at 5:09pm or thereabouts. It was ok, after we got past the person holding the wire so that it wouldn't interfere with our train going past :P Oh well... such is life... at least it wasn't in the middle of peak hour... would have been a lot worse... :)

Boss took the afternoon off today... and its Friday afternoon... so I'm writing out Christmas cards and writing job applications... also sitting on ICQ chatting to this girl who apparently is also writing out Christmas cards :P Not much else happening... just browsing the usual sites that I normally would do at home...

Don't have any plans for the weekend... must think of something before it starts in a few hours :P Feel like sleeping in though this weekend.. .me and my stupid "stuck in a cycle" body clock... still waking up at 6am EVERY day of the week.. it sucks... at least I'm not like this girl who stays up most of the night and is still online when I get to work at 8:30am :P... ahh.. back to doing nothing it is... :P

Another fine day at work today. I think I worked about 2 hours for the whole day :P Had a long-ish lunch sitting in the Treasury Gardens because the management level lunch got postponed for a week so most of the people could make it... some are on holidays, some are sick and some were just too busy today :( Spent a good hour in the afternoon at a lawyers office because I have to apparently go to court over the car accident earlier this year. Something about suing both of them and one of them suing us or something. It's either going to be settled or we'll go to court in January sometime... *sigh* thought that was all dealt with already...

Oh well, think I have an early night tonight, just bum around at home and write some Christmas cards.. and people like this probably shouldn't put their addresses in my comments system thingy :P lol... So.. got about 6 cards to write so far... must get around to doing it soonish.. considering its like less than 3 weeks before Christmas... hmmm time flies when you're busy... :)

T'is the season to get fat eating out I think :P Last night I went to "Shine" (the new place in Glen Wav) with Caroline to have dinner and catch up and all that. It was good. It was a bit noisy as the roof isn't exactly high and solid surfaces reflecting the sound everywhere. Apparently it was openned by the former managers of Airstream Cafe which is just around the corner in the cinema area thing... so we went there to get coffee and cake afterwards :D It had started cooling down by then a bit.. last night was so friggen warm though, left my window open when I went to bed... got woken up by the sound of the first train going up the hill at like 4:50am... *sigh*

First of 2 unit lunches was today... lots of fun and jokes... the head of the unit made a speech... usual giving crap to people like he does... its all in a bit of fun though :) Had to wear a stupid hat (everyone had to)... I got the "court jester" hat complete with little bells... unfortunately someone had a camera so there is evidence of it :P they are "real" photos so they're getting them back tomorrow and there is talk of scanning them O_o.. lol...

Invited to a management level lunch tomorrow, same place, same time... just the we don't have to pay :) Then have drinks in the evening at the other office... its a tough life but someone has to do it :P lol... the other unit lunch is next tuesday... different place this time.. ;) Tonight went to Myer with Fel... bought some Christmas cards so whoever wants to send me their address will get one... that is.. until I run out of them :P Had "happy cup" tonight for the first time since like last summer... lol... still the same stuff and still the same price... :P

No air conditioning at home is not good.. it used to be not necessary... in the "good old days" but now... everytime it goes above 30 degrees, its sooo hot *sigh* when we buy a house... its going to have air conditioning :P I'm not going to survive another 36 degree day :(

Well, some good news, got my "contract" extended for another 3 months, so its some certainty... still have to look for a permanent job but its better than having the pressure of 2 weeks hanging over my head. Gives me some more time. Speaking of time...which I seem to not have a lot of recently... I'm about to head off to have dinner with Caroline...

Woah... is this what happens when you get older? Sit around for an afternoon chatting with friends and generally catching up over lunch at someone's home. Thats what we did this afternoon... relaxing and chatting. It just felt so... uhh.. nice :P Comfortable and fulfilling (?)... I must say... this is a good thing to do and have after long weeks at work. Wish we could do it more often but everyone is busy with work. Oh well, just treasure the times we have together!

Went to an auction just now... no one bid for the place... so yeah... property market isn't so good.. esp with all those (two) interest rate rises... its all about expectations. Expectations are a big thing, I mean, I'm expected to find a job (a real one that is) soon. I'm expected to be able to support myself in this world. I'm expected to be successful.. I don't know whether I can do that. What happens if I can't? *sigh*

Hmm, well.. I'm just glad its the weekend today. I couldn't survive much longer with the lack of sleep and the work... stayed till late last night, around 7pm finishing off things. Some processes fell over twice apparently when they tried to run them (the processor intensive ones) on Thursday night so people stayed overnight to see if they could get it to work. Finally at 7am something worked and it was all happy (well.. tired happy) again. Another long night last night for them, hopefully everything went ok! Next week is long lunches and drinks all around.

Ran into an old classmate yesterday on the train, who happens to work with a family friend of ours. They were leaving so late from work as well. Its such a small world out there. Have to tread carefully otherwise something may just come back to bite you in the butt :P

Now.. officially, I am a Masters graduate. Doesn't make me a better person than anyone else, just another few letters to put on the business card :P Still have to spend the long hours in the office like today. Another 10+ hour day, thats two this week and I think the third in this fortnight. Don't know what is happenning tomorrow, but I feel like going into work a lot later than I have been, probably get there around 9am. lol.. that used to be on time.. now its late :P

Yay, results are apparently out tomorrow, but I tried logging into the results system and it tells me that I got a D for my final mark :) I'm happy with that. Obviously would like to be a HD but yeah, its what I was aiming for! So no more waiting for the results to come out. Now to find a career :P

Hmm... had the phone interview today. It was ok, didn't really ask that many questions, so it was a bit weird... hopefully get through to the next stage.... no idea though.

There was a bit of a storm last night... just a little one.. lol... about 10cm of rain fell in some suburbs, and we had train stations that were flooded :O this morning. It was all nice until lightning/thunder woke me up at like 2am and then again at 3am... *yawn* now got a full day of work ahead of me... The air conditioning in the office doesn't seem to be fixed yet either. It broke down yesterday afternoon... grrr... you'd think it would be a priority to fix it considering how hot and humid it is outside

What a day... finally dealt with the stuff I left on Friday when I couldn't be bothered doing.. that was most of the morning. Headed to Camberwell for the office lunch, even the CEO made an appearance which was good :) rallying the troops.. or rather, thanking them for their hard work :P Lunch was pretty good but it was kind of like a working visit for me, dropping off stuff for people and picking up stuff from them for me to work on. Much quicker than waiting for the daily courier run :P

This afternoon, another case meeting, another lot of work generated... but we are getting through them. They even scheduled another one tomorrow morning, meaning I stayed late to make sure that I didn't have that much work tomorrow, although I think it will just be the same and it will be another long day. Aiii... such is life...
