A look into the life of someone who is searching for everything without a map.

So ends another week. TGIF :) The afternoons seem to go by a lot faster this week probably due to the fact that several people have been away so I have extra stuff to do. Feeling run down though, the last two nights at least. Can't remember further back than that :P Weather sucks now, forecast for "local hail and thunder" tomorrow, feel like sleeping all day. Might get rid of the lethargic feeling :)

This ad has been splashed across the TV screen a bit these past two weeks and now someone has put it on the net. The question is.... if you get on the train and sing the first line, will a song start. I should really really hope it doesn't :P *shudder*

As a rule, people shouldn't talk on their mobiles when on the train. That is, have long conversations with girlfriend/boyfriend/fiancee/wife/etc. One thing that is a definite no-no is talking to aforementioned people whilst in a packed carriage at 5pm. Case today, the guy gets a call from his SO whilst the train is in the tunnel of course the line gets dropped, train exits loop and he calls back. "I have a surprise for you tonight" (He is holding a bunch of red roses that is wafting its smell across to me, seated next to him) Then he finds out his wife went to the doctor and the results weren't good. Next thing I know he is calling his friend (who I guess he was meant to meet up with tonight) to cancel their plans and proceeds to tell him everything that is wrong... I mean.. hello, did the whole train need to know that the treatment for your SO's illness. Sheesh

There are some things that you do that seem like a good idea at the time, but maybe you realise that you are just so out of place when you get there. I was just so completely out of place, not in the fact that I was at some beauty pagent thing on the other side of the city on a Sunday night, but the fact that I went there and was seen by some people to be not worthy or something of being there, maybe the invite wasn't really intended for me. The fact that this person just blew me off and didn't even seem to want to talk to me just made me feel like walking out. Anyway, I'm over it and its not like I care, I just needed to vent :P I met up with one of my friends from high school so the evening was not a total loss :)

Had a good night out at Dats Amore just near where I live. We had a voucher for 25% off so it worked out pretty cheap for a big meal for 6 people, about $90 :) One thing though, I ordered the daily special pasta which was scallops with olive oil and spaghetti, there was at least one scallop that was raw... ewww :( Got them to cook me another one and that was fine. Oh well. Saw a movie at Knox afterwards, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind. Movie was a bit weird and will probably take another viewing of it to truly understand it, but yeah, overall it was a pretty good movie.

The joys of public transport. Train was on time (second time in 5 days) but got to Burnley and there was a signal failure... fast forward one hour later, they finally fix the problem and I end up getting to work one hour late. Bah! This was the first week they took over running the entire system and it has been down the crapper. Can we go back to the way we were, at least then I could depend on the trains somewhat? Maybe it is just bad luck, school's back and it rained properly for the first time in about a month.

Heading to dinner with friends tonight, but still haven't been able to book the restaurant as there is no answer on the phone. I've faxed them, wonder if that will do anything *sigh* Hmm, its already 1230 and it seems like its still early, and finally its Friday! :)

ONE month to go! wooohooo :D

Wednesday, April 21, 2004

It feels like Thursday today, but alas, its still wednesday :( so still two more days of work. Things are working towards having dinner and watching a movie on Friday night. Not everyone can make it but I'm sure it will still be a good night :)

Work has been ok, not busy or anything, just starting up and working to document stuff that we are doing. All in the name of "just in case we get hit by a bus and can't work" risk management :D Kind of seems surreal at the moment, I have stuff to do and the days are actually going quite quickly, apart from the hour between 4 and 5pm that is! :P Teflon boy (a person at work) came in for half the day but went home sick after having yesterday off... I tell ya, he's weak :P

Got a letter officially saying that I didn't get the job I interviewed for a few weeks ago, not like I didn't already know :P I've moved on from that and the letter is sitting nicely in the recycling bin :D Still waiting for the jobs that I have applied for recently, and still preparing key selection criteria, cover letters, resumes, etc for jobs. Cor was saying that I'm not that desperate to get a job because I haven't applied to 1000 different places and gotten rejected yet... pffft :P

Some days, it just seems better not to get out of bed. People dissappoint. Theres no two ways of going about it. Sucks majorly just being on the wrong end of it yet again. I have lost faith in the system.

Edit: Oh wait, I did one useful thing today, I signed up for Connex SMS that tells you whether your train is cancelled/late. Hopefully won't be getting too many of those messages :P

What I have done this weekend:
Housework (arrrggh and may come as a surprise to some of you) :P
Job Application (1)
Job Application (2)
Lots of paperwork that has been piling up since before Easter
Drove to the city and bought things for my godmother

Lets hope there is some return on investment that I have put into the job apps. :P Watched parts of the Godfather Part II on tv tonight. Its not like its a great movie or anything, but there is some strange connection with Karen and Nick in Sydney. We watched the trillogy the last year when I was staying at their place. Last Monday (man, it was only 6 days ago) when I was visiting them and had the tv on, the Godfather ad comes up.... freaky :P But there have always been weird things like that happening with us, I think it was X-Men :D

Back to work tomorrow... one week closer to the holiday :)

Winter.... brrrrrrr. The only thing is that it is the weekend but I have a lot to do. Nothing special though :P Just boring routine stuff that I have been putting off and it now must be done this weekend. Back to it I go...

A more detailed account of Sydney:
Thursday night, went to see The Lion King which was fabulous, even though the seats weren't great (cheapo) and this is the view of the stage that we had. The lady in front luckily didn't block my view and the actors were great, even making a joke about a curtain looking like something from "The Block" :P

Friday, went with my mum to Chatswood to have yum cha with a school friend of hers that she hadn't seen for around 30 years! :O Another person who was a teacher just starting out at the school was also there.

Saturday night was spent with all the relatives in Sydney, it was interesting. Its not often that everyone of my relatives in Sydney turns up. Usually there are some cousins missing but that night everyone was there.

Monday I went to the Easter show with Karen and Nick. Had a good time looking at all the animals, Nick is from the country so knows all about the animals. We even saw a KKK horse (muwhahaha)... but unfortunately didn't get a photo :P My favourite was the dog judging, not the dogs but watching overweight owners try to parade their dogs... we were giving them so much crap :D The evening ended up at a Chinese restaurant near UNSW with Kay (Karen's younger sister)

Edit: Forgot to add that a certain girl didn't want to meet me for ice cream :P Nothing to do with headaches or anything else :D

Back in Melb and strangely enough, its summer again with 32 degrees expected today :) Got back from Sydney yesterday afternoon. It was a long time to be there. I had fun though, met up with Karen and Nick on Monday and went to the Easter show. Don't know why but I only took like 7 photos the whole time I was there, I think I'm over the going to Sydney and taking photos thing. Its too familiar that I don't really look at the place, its all about the people.

Yay... been here for two days and haven't done a single exciting thing yet. Actually, been "working" and organising stuff for work next week... they keep calling me on the mobile.. contractors that is.. bah! :P But anyway, visited my grandfather in the nursing home as soon as we got to Sydney. It sucks seeing someone waste away their days basically "waiting" :(

Going to see the Lion King musical thingy tonight so it should be good :) Dinner with all relatives on Saturday night and the Easter show with Karen and Nick on Monday. Basically something on every second day... I think there may be some other things planned for the other days...

Didn't get the job that I interviewed for... found out today :( Oh well, doesn't matter. I got some feedback from the manager, he was nice enough to come and talk to me in person rather than write or phone me. Much appreciated :) Went and dropped off another job application today... going to keep trying and never going to give up. That was one lesson for today. Going to Sydney tomorrow for a week so won't be updating much (if at all). Should probably go start packing or something... haha :D

Doh... some little kid rammed his bike into my car when driving out of the driveway today... its always been a problem and we have had some near misses (or rather, near hits) The stupid wall blocks any vision of people coming and I always stop with the front of the car just showing and then go... dunno... now there is a small bump when the kid's wheel slammed into my car. Bah!

Apart from that, this weekend has been quite good. Went to the city and South Melbourne yesterday and bought shoes, some knit t-shirt tops and a pair of jeans. Last night, went to Chris' and saw The Last Samurai. Interesting movie, not your typical american action movie, so its all good. :D So yeah, I won't be spending anything for the next month as I've got to hoard my spending money for the trip. Speaking of trips, I'm going up to Sydney on Wednesday for a week. Good to get away for Easter, not good not to get paid :P Hope everyone had a good weekend too :)

Friday, April 02, 2004

Uggghh.... the only thing is that the sun is out, apart from that, I have no idea how early it is and what I am doing at work. Waiting seems to be the theme of the day so far and thats about all I've done. The darkness that makes it feel just sooo wrong to be up. I haven't been up at that time since the days I worked at Crown and had 6am and 7am starts. I feel like crawling under the desk and having a snooze, only that I wish those people who I came to work so early for would turn up :P
