Irrelevant Ramblings

A look into the life of someone who is searching for everything without a map.

Its been a long week and there were some memorable and some forgettable moments. Back at work now, although its another long weekend in 2 days time :D Still haven't firmed plans for New Years Eve yet, really should get around to it today calling people to see whether they still want to go ahead.

I was in Sydney last week for my Grandfather's funeral. Whilst it was a sad occasion, it *should* have been happy where a large number of the extended family could spend Christmas together. Instead, it degenerated into somewhat of a family fued when an email (from a non-attending relative) arrived on Christmas eve and is basically still going on. When it comes down to it, money and families don't mix.

Saw my first group of 'westies' in Sydney on Boxing Day. Much worse than our Melbourne 'bogans' although I'm guessing that they are pretty much similar in thinking and actions. :D Missed out on meeting up with Alaysia again this time due to the family fued thing. :(

Whilst the recent days may not have been the happiest and I am not with Jenny for our first Christmas, it is the season to be happy and I hope everyone is enjoying Christmas in their own way. No one should be unhappy or fighting at this time of the year.

My grandfather passed away last night. A trip up to Sydney has been booked for the funeral, so there might not be that many updates for a while...

Only 1 more day of this week. Got home tonight and felt like crashing and almost did. Geez, and its on Thursday. And its getting damn close to Christmas. :D I've sent off the international Christmas cards last week and should (provided I write them as I've been putting it off) have the local ones sent by this weekend. Went to the night markets with Jenny last night. It was just like St Kilda Sunday markets only more crowded and with food ;) Had some Dutch Pancakes and then headed back into the city to have a (more) proper dinner. The queues were unbeliveable for all the food stalls, they were making a fortune last night (and next week as well)

Thumbs up to the lady on the train last night (at 9pm) who decided to decorate part of the train with tinsle. Thumbs down to the stupid woman who shouted for me to walk up the escalator yesterday morning even though there was a lady with crutches trying to move across to let us walk past. Ah, people who spread the Christmas spirit during this festive season! *rolls eyes*

Back on (dialup) line :D First time the phone company has delivered something early *sigh* I'd forgotten how slow this is. How does anyone still surf the web at this speed? I guess the withdrawl symptoms have kicked in and the first chance to be online, I've tried to open (only) 3 windows and have them all loading simultaneously. That is how surveys have found internet usage when people have moved onto broadband. Its hard getting used to waiting and having to dialup everytime you want to connect. Now have to call up ISP and ask them to re-order ADSL. Hopefully back on proper internet within a week or so!

They obviously need more people to sign up to the i-tag thing as I got an sms offering another $25 to sign up a friend for it :D Oh wells.

So now I am disconnected from the world at home. I thought I couldn't live without broadband access, but now it seems dial-up is not available now. The lady that sold us the house didn't disconnect her phone line so I couldn't connect yesterday. Grrrr. They (the phone company) knew about this because the application to change failed but did they call me to try and fix the problem. Of course not, what do you expect from the the largest phone company in Australia. Sheesh. Waiting till Tuesday for a phone line and then another week for the ADSL to be connected.

But I'm glad everything else is settled. Soooo tired from moving, then having to come to work and almost fall asleep in a meeting at 9am :D Thats it, I've had enough for this week and I'm going home :P

I swear I never want to move house again. Either that or pay someone to pack, move and unpack everything for me :D Doesn't help that it has been hot the last few days and having to work full time (they should have days off for moving I tell ya :P)

And it only took me over a month to finally wash the new car. With the recent rain, it really wasn't necessary or worth it to do it. Waited for a few days of find weather, but as luck would have it, the day after I wash the car it rains *sigh* Then the other joy of washing the car (just a bit of sarcasm here) was finding all the scratches/bumps that have been inflicted on the perfect paintwork :( So far its just a few small scratches (all in a vertical line.. hmmm) on the front bumper and two dints from car doors on the side body protection plastic bits. Oh, and the scraped paintwork on the driver's side mirror thanks to my mum hitting a concrete pillar at work :S

To reply the comments from the last post:
cor: now that you have the cd, is there any chance of sending the sim card back before the credits expire? :P

nhu: I know, I'm a gadget hoe, but $25 and 2 movie tickets ain't too bad for basically purchasing McDonalds once. You never have to go back again after the first transaction! :D

Being a new-tech supporter (as well as previously a regular McD's customer) I've signed up for the this i-tag thing where you can get a barcode which is scanned to pay for your food in the drive through and charged to your credit card. The whole point is that they can verify your details through reading the e-tag in your car (which is for the tollway here). The other benefits of this "trial" of technology (barcode + e-tag, not exactly new tech?!) is $25 credited to your toll account :D and two movie tickets ;) Can't complain when they are basically giving money away. :)
