Irrelevant Ramblings

A look into the life of someone who is searching for everything without a map.

Another week has flown by and the same old work routine is getting tiring. Probably doesn't help that I am not being "engaged" by the work and "empowered" to enjoy my work and help my "customers". All the latest trends with buzzwords started by the Americanisation and the introduction of catchphrases that possibly are just ways to pay executives more money. The whole "vision" and "mission statement" I've lived through, only now to be told to find ways to improve the workgroup's "empathy", "clarity", "engagement" and "learning." The only learing that I am discovering is that we paid these people (the consultants) a lot of money to do a survey which stated the obvious. Ah, such is the spending of taxpayer's money! :D

Gah! Went to Chaddies yesterday and spent the next 10+ minutes driving around looking for a parking spot. Defeated by the parking spot problem, we ended up at The Glen and happily browsing in David Jones when fire alarms start going off. And it wasn't a false alarm, with everyone forced out on the street or into their cars and away from the centre :( So that ruined our afternoon. GAH! And to top it off, the train to work this morning was diverted due to "Police operation at Flagstaff" which is one thing that you don't hear people complaining about now. Although it was apparently simply an ill passenger. Oh wells. They say bad/adverse things happen in threes, so I guess these three events will be all the bad things that happen this week? *fingers crossed* :D

First rule of business, never promise what you cannot deliver. Second, there is always someone responsible (other than the person you are talking to). That was the story of the day. Things were discovered that not only went wrong, but against all logic. Oh wells, maybe this is a sign? ;) Time to get some sleep and (as in Reservoir Dogs or some other movie) Forget-about-it!

Another weekend gone, another weekend of freezing nights. But catching up with Nick was worth it, as was the gelati that we had from Trampoline (place in Glenferrie Road) and a few beers after that at the Glenferrie hotel *thumbs up* Funny how we were all in coats and scarfs when Nick was simply in a shirt (damn that cold weather in NZ!)

*sigh* It was bound to happen sooner or later. Why can't we all just get along? We're all human beings and when it comes down to it, there is only one world, one people :(

You really have to question an organisation's priorities when they seem to care more about getting a "name plate" done up for someone rather than tackling the real issues. *sigh* I'm sure those people that sit near this person really can see the progress that they are bringing.
