Irrelevant Ramblings

A look into the life of someone who is searching for everything without a map.

Melbourne, late November and its 20+ degrees and 83% humidity at 8am O_o Its almost like being back in HK in early spring. Not a good morning today, got woken up at 4am by the thunderstorms and then again about 6:30am by excavators working next door. Like. Right next to my bedroom. Could they at least let me sleep till 7am! :(

I wrote an email on the train this morning. Still haven't decided whether I want to send it. Things that happened in the past should stay in the past. Why did it even cross my mind let alone actually write the email... Fark!

Driving heaps this weekend... was looking for the "World Kitchen" place on Sydney Road that sells Corningware cheaply but found out they had relocated to Essendon. Off to essendon (right next to the airport) and the DFO outlet there... It was an image of the Simpsons' shopping mall with cars parked (including mine) all the way about 500+m away from the entrance. At least we didn't end up empty handed and found a bargain or two (plus the plates we were kinda looking for) :)

Also showed that apparently, public transport can work well (even on weekends). Made the trip from home by train to Gardiner and then tram to Camberwell in about 30 mins, 10 or so more minutes than by car (not including the now normal weekend traffic jams in the eastern suburbs). Of course then we picked up the car and drove to Ikea to have lunch ($4.95 for 10 meatballs + cake is a steal! :D) Caught a movie with Chris and Vanessa and a few others, "Kiss kiss, bang bang"... kinda strange movie but different and good none-the-less. Now to top the past two weekends with something even better next weekend?

Oh, payday was last Thursday, can't wait for the next one, Visa bill due soon :(

Today was the first day in over a week that I didn't sit at my desk basically trying to fill in time and read documentation. Instead, I sat about 5 metres away at a bank of computers being "trained" on how to use it. The quotes are there as I won't actually be using much of the system, just supporting those that do and improving the way that it works. Its all good. Teflon boy's position has been upgraded and advertised along with a few others that were kinda interesting, but I don't think it would give me the opportunities here. Bigger organisation, more chances, but also the risk of being "lost in the crowd."

Burdened by paperwork! I've now got to fill in two timesheets at the new job. One electronically and the other semi-electronically. I appreciate that I will have to "allocate" my chargable hours, but most if not all my hours will go to one area for the forseeable future. I thought I could just get away with filling one timesheet out *rolls eyes* Oh well, hopefully move on to multiple projects sooner to justify filling in the allocation timesheet!

Also, email signatures. I've seen several different styles, the "normal" listing of job title, department and organisation (plus the usual address/contact details), but I came across one today which was semi-reversed... department, job title and then work area/branch. That's just strange! :D

Off to bed now, but who knows how I am going to sleep tonight in this crappy weather. You know its bad when the Bureau of Meterology describes the overnight weather to be "oppressive" O_o
