Did this celebrity comparison a while ago. Apparently I'm hobbit boy :D

Chinese Year of the Dog
Gong Hey Fat Choi! :D A new lunar year is upon us. I hope everyone has a prosperous and fulfilling year this year :) This must have been the first year that we went to the temple on "New Year's Day" and was it crowded. Usually we go and its just us, but yesterday we were jostling for space and trying not to breathe in any of the smoke (still smelt like I had just walked out of a club afterwards though).

Brainiac is really pushing the reality science thing hard and in the wrong direction... they try to be scientific but then make the stupidest assumptions but I guess its all in fun. Mythbusters has too much science in it. sometimes so you can't win :(

A big shout out to Alaysia who is off on her big adventure on the other side of the Pacific. Good luck, you'll kick butt and win hearts (maybe not in that order, or at the same time :P) over there I'm sure! :)

It's business as usual today, but the bright side is that its only one day and another 2 days off. Going up to the Yarra Valley tomorrow and then the *traditional* end of Chinese New Year dinner.

Must get more exercise in as the health thing is seeming more like a once in a whilet thing, but maybe not in this heat. Seems like we have moved to a tropical climate with humidity + heat, much like Singapore 30+ degrees and thunderstorms :( This is what we have to pay for all those CO2 emmisions in the past 100+ years.

Random thoughts (or rather, Ramblings)

- What is it with the "thong" culture. Asian families (generalisation!) wear them everywhere, but its not like they are worn with suits as seems to be happening recently. This has been getting more and more prevalent every morning as I climb the stairs at Parliament. Not a good look!

- After 5 years of avoiding it, I'm going to fly Virgin Blue for the first time. I guess I've been a Virgin virgin long enough :D Hopefully it is good :P

- I must get around to writing the card that I bought on the weekend. Karen's birthday is in just over a week. Still haven't figured out what we should get her :(

Hot in the City

Its probably only because of the weekend, but it is way too hot. 38 degrees outside and 30 inside. I mean, its bearable but definitely not comfortable. :(

How could anyone be this stupid. Once again, common sense has proven to be not very common. Friggen idiots!

Had to laugh when I read this article in the NY Times and it complained that their "slow" broadband was only 6Mbits. Most people here can only dream of 6Mbit internet connections as our near-monopoly Tel$tra decides that 1.5Mbits is enough for us. I can only hope that I will be able to get faster speeds from my ISP to install their own DSLAM equipment in my exchange. I'm not holding my breath though! :(

Another week gone, still yet to achieve anything this year. Although, we have started on a (more) healthy lifestyle by exercising at least once a week more. Last weekend we went swimming at the local pool, probably do the same this week if we get a chance. For <$5 per person, its a bargain! :D

Social calendar seems to be filling up (with fatty foods probably) and we are looking to go to the Ping Eatery & Bar (14/20 by The Age Good Food Guide) tomorrow night. If only they would pick up the phone when we are trying to book *rolls eyes*

A plug for paupau who has finally moved into her new home. Looking good young lady :D

'Tis strange when everyone goes back to work and you are still on holidays, but the whole cycle is starting again. People going to work, parents going to shopping centres during the day and then rushing off (I assume not to pick the kids up from school!) at 4pm in order to get home before rush hour sets in. There is this whole world out there that I hardly ever see (damn corporate peon working life thingy!). Amazing really.
