The Trials and Tribulations of moving

Jenny moved into her own apartment from a shared house over the weekend. We just managed to get the stuff we wanted to move on Saturday done before the (so far) storm of the summer hit with rain pelting down and lightning filling the sky. That must have meant that all the luck was used up, as Sunday was full of problems, delays and traffic jams. To top it all off, the bed (from Ikea no less :P) had bits that didn't fit together as per the instructions. We bought the last one in the store (uni is starting again this week and the mad rush to buy everything in Ikea was on) and have kinda put it together. Hopefully it doesn't all collapse in a heap! :D

Saturday night was also Chris' birthday and housewarming. They must have set a record for the longest time since moving in for a housewarming party. I think it will be 1 year in March. Plus Chris and Vanessa have recently (Valentine's Day) gotten engaged. I still put this sequence of events down to him buying a "family" car and selling his FTO. :P

I had my first real reunion with high school friends this weekend. Its been 10 years and a few of us finally decided to get together and have brunch. Saturday morning brunch is really not for me. At least it was somewhere close so we didn't have to get up and drive for an hour to get there by 10am. Some things have changed, some have not in those 10 years.

Things that have changed:
- One is married and pregnant
- Most of them have been to the UK and working
- The twins aren't as alike as they were

Things that haven't changed:
- The (which one is the) evil twin argument
- Stupidity still rules when we think back to what the hell we were doing back then :D
- We're amazed that Gus (not his real name) was able to get a girlfriend :D

What is it with Krispy Kreme doughnuts (as opposed to do-nuts :D) that makes people want to bring boxes of them long distances? Its so popular that the outlets at Sydney Airport are making an absolute fortune. The sugar hit from the glazing is good though, and people on a diet can blow their whole daily calorie count :D (and yes, we brought back a mixed dozen which disappeared very quickly when Jenny took them to work!)

The whole weekend was about eating. We went to Sydney to eat more expensive food (+ 10% surcharge on weekends) and bring some other stuff back. What a way to spend a weekend :) Surprise birthday dinner for Karen was great, she was almost crying when she "ran into us" in the Pitt St mall. Also saw where she will be having her wedding ceremony, the roof of the Park Hyatt which is almost underneath the harbour bridge and looking out towards the Opera House. Extremely classy location. September seems so far away but I'm sure it will be here in a blink of an eye.
