Make sure cats and other pests cannot get into the nest. Ants may be pesky too!

Australian Birds don't like their nest on a post in the middle of a lawn. Use wire to tie it to the branch of a tree or the side of a building. Try to give the nest plenty of shade.
Keep an eye on the nests because foreign birds will try to use the nest and kick the Australian birds out.

By using several nests placed at different angles you may attract more birds. Like people, birds don't like a row of tidy houses that all look the same! Boxes that are exactly vertical or horizontal usually don't work well, but there are exceptions.

Many boxes will be useful to other species once the first has raised it's brood. The important thing is to clean out the nest so it's ready for the next breeding season.
