Here are some specially selected Astrology titles you can buy direct from our online Astrology bookstore, which we have arranged in conjunction with Amazon.com. We have written a short introduction to each of these books, so you can get an idea of what they are about. There's nothing worse than looking at a link without a key or explanation, is there? To order a book, just click on its title (or the cover image). If the book is out of print, we will search our contacts in the second-hand bookstores to locate it for you. You may still need to search the second-hand stores and libraries to find it, but it will be worth the trouble. |

Astrology by Ronald C. Davison. (Mayflower Books Ltd: London 1969.) First published in 1963, Ronald Davisons Astrology is one of the best general introductions to astrological lore and the basics of chart calculation and interpretation. Davison, a former leading light of British astrology, displays a wealth of astrological and spiritual knowledge in his descriptions of the symbolic meanings of the signs, the planets, the aspects and the houses. Astrology is also of historical interest since it was written before oversimplification and eschewing fatalism became the dominant trends among many astrologers during the 1970s. Look in second-hand bookstores for this little gem. |

Life Cycles: The Influence of Planetary Cycles on our Lives by Rose Elliot. (Macmillan: London 1993.) Best known for her cookery books, Rose Elliot nevertheless has a fine grasp of astrology. Her accessible introduction to transits demonstrates how the planets, at certain stages of their cycles, coincide with distinct developmental stages and/or major psychological crisis points in our lives. Life Cycles explains what each planet represents, what planetary cycles mean and how to handle their effects in the most constructive way. It includes simple tables and graphs, enabling anyone born this century to see when planetary cycles will be affecting his or her life. |

Planetary Music: Understanding Astrological Rhythms by Edwin L. Rose. (Guiding Star Publishing: 1998.) Planetary Music: Understanding Astrological Rhythms by Ed Rose is a ground-breaking book which makes a compelling connection between the rhythms of the seasons and the qualities of the astrological signs. Sometimes controversial, it delves into the roots of astrology incorporating music, science, religion, and philosophy. Planets, signs, houses, and aspects are examined in a unified way so that the reader can see how the qualities of each arise, rather than memorizing a long list of disjointed observations. |

In this light, Sasha Fenton provides a straightforward guide to learning and using the major predictive techniques: day-for-a-year progressions, solar arc progressions, solar and lunar returns, and transits. Reading the Future also offers brief interpretations of how the planets work when moving through the various signs and houses and when in easy or difficult aspects. |

Synastry: Understanding Human Relations Through Astrology by Ronald Davison.(Aurora Press: Santa Fe 1983.) Synastry details the principles of chart comparison and interpretation and shows how to apply this information. While Davisons proposed relationship horoscope is a somewhat questionable technique, this does not detract from the fact that Synastry is a very good summation of the methods of chart comparison. The book includes short interpretations of planetary inter-chart aspects and comparative house placements. |

The Gods of Change: Pain, Crisis and the Transits of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto by Howard Sasportas. (Arkana (Penguin): London 1989.) Major turning points or crises in our lives are usually signified by the transits of the outer planets to our birth charts. Sasportas provides a psychologically informed account of the distinctive dilemmas, particular type of trauma, test or trial posed by each planet, as it moves through the houses and makes aspects to the planets of the birth chart. By knowing what is in store for us, he suggests, we can learn to cooperate with the inevitable, find meaning behind periods of upheaval, and use our life crises as opportunities for growth and development. |

The Lost Key to Prediction: The Arabic Parts in Astrology by Robert Zoller. (Inner Traditions: NY 1980.) The Arabic Parts, greatly valued by astrologers of an earlier era, have been virtually ignored by Western astrology since the seventeenth century. Zoller opens up this valuable tradition to modern astrologers, gaining a new perspective on the inner meaning of the horoscope. The first section covers the relationship of parts to number and causality (karma or fate). The second section contains his translation of Bonatti's derivation of over 100 parts. The third illustrates the practical use of parts in natal, horary and mundane figures. Clearly written and relevant, this book should be on the shelves of every serious astrologer. |

Solar Returns in Your Face by Marc Penfield. (American Federation of Astrologers, Inc.: Tempe AZ 1996.) In this book Marc Penfield presents the case for applying the precession correction to annual solar return charts. Solar Returns in Your Face is light on theory, and contains no cook-book list of planets in the houses and so forth, rather, it demonstrates that precessed solar return charts aptly describe events in peoples lives by presenting brief analyses of over 140 example charts of famous people, at important stages in their lives. |
