Coward Springs was an old railway siding for the original Ghan Railway route,
there are springs from bores sunk into the Great Artesian Basin, one of the larges underwater stores.
Great area for camping with basic facilities, as you can see!!!
One of the bores has been capped, but allowed to slowly trickle over to create some wetlands - after creating the
natural spa, water is a constant 26c.
The Managers of the area have tried to keep some of the old railway history around.
This is the restored Engine Drivers Cottage, that white stuff is salt from the salt pans
The basic facilities are all made out of left overs from the old Ghan Railway - even the wood for the hot water!!!
Lots of bird life do the constant water supplies.
