Dry Caving in the Lower South East of South Australia
Hunters Cave 5L220
In 1983 Mt Gambier farmer Fred Hunter was driving through his paddock when he noted what looked like a dark patch of grass from his vehicle. On further investigation, Fred discovered that a new hole had appeared in the field, with such clean edges it looked as if a giant hole punch had been used to create it. Members of CEGSA (including Peter Horne who supplied the following early images) were attending a local caving meet. They were summoned to the site to investigate and subsequently explored and mapped this amazing site!
