I am a specialist anaesthetist with a keen interest in diving medicine/physiology and I attend international diving medicine conferences when permitted to by my wife (SPUMS 1999, 2001).

I forgot to mention that I am the illegitimate son of JS Haldane and that I taught Simon Mitchell all he knows.  Except about sheep (winces) sorry Simon.
 
Both Gary Gentile and Sheck Exley, prior to his demise, frequently use me as a sounding board for their diving ideas.  Had Sheck followed my instructions properly he would no doubt still be with us.  Mary Ellen was most grateful for my "input" during the difficult time after his death.  It is generally accepted that Jarrod Jablonski used her descriptions of me when developing the concept of "donating the long hose".
 
I inspired Lamar Hines to start Dive Rite and Dick Long is in fact named after me.  Jim Church was cloned from samples taken from me by the USN during my testing of their Mk 16 rebreather (my design) and David Doubilet has a stupid name.  But he takes good photos.
