'BROTHERS  in  ARMS'

A campaign of 10 missions, it takes place in Panama with the player taking the role of rebels against the US backed regime. As usual there is a strong cohesive story line tying the campaign together.

It uses maps from the Island Thunder add-on.

Comparing it with 'Band of Brothers', this time the emphasis is more on harassing the enemy rather than the Ghosts coming after you, although there are still plenty of defend situations

The briefings are delivered in a novel fashion - the player is presented with a CNN news bulletin which in addition to describing the events taking place give valuable clues for completing the mission. Where necessary mission notes are added for clarification. Below is typical briefing from the campaign:

Veracuas Province, Panama. Sunday, August 28, 2005.

US Forces today claimed a crushing victory over the socialist rebels here. One of the rebels most wanted leaders, Comandante Guevara, was traced to small airstrip in rebel held territory in the southwest of the country. Several teams of Special Force Snipers were sent to the area to harass the rebels and effectively confine them to the compound around the airstrip while the US and PDF forces organized a major offensive. Launched in the early hours of yesterday morning under cover of heavy fog, a contingent of PDF tanks, supported by US Special Forces, successfully took control of the area, according to a military statement. It also claimed Guevara and most of his men were killed in the assault effectively breaking the back of the rebel movement in Panama.

In what is becoming the norm in this conflict the rebels have totally rebutted the US claims stating that, in fact it was the Special Forces who suffered the crushing defeat and that they would soon provide proof that Guevara is in fact alive and well and more than ready to continue the fight. In a phone call to this office earlier today, a man claiming to be a member of Guevara's inner circle stated, "It is nothing more than fanciful propaganda that the US military continue to claim these victories against us. Clearly they are panicking in the face of public opinion which is beginning to turn against them more and more at the passing of each day".
