Waaaaaaaaaahhhh. You f%$#@ beauty
!!! I'm still trying to take in the fact we beat Essendon?
Man, my hands were tingling about 2 minutes from the final
siren and we just could not believe that this was real 'cause
we were psyching ourselves for a loss to Essendon with a real
big effort to get over the Crows in Showdown XXIVXIIMCM. Were
we wrong ! How many of you tipped the Dons?
Well, what an absolutely awesome
game from first bounce to final siren. It was so fast and
hard that I couldn't believe this was the same team that lost
to Brisbane last week. Wasn't Brent Guerra special ?
Our midfield did a great job to get it out of the centre,
our forwards really capitalised with some inspiring play but
sometimes it was a bit disheartening to see some really fundamental
mistakes, like Chad Cornes kicking out on the full 30 metres
out from goal. Defence was brilliant and when Paxman
limped off in the 2nd quarter, I really thought it was gonna
get tough but, to his credit, he came back and he did a superb
job on holding up Matty Lloyd, we were just spectacular. Likewise,
Wangers tagging Hird was excellent.
Nick Stevens, Josh Francou,
Matthew Primus, Josh Carr, Roger James, Fabian Francis and
Peter Burgoyne take a bow. Outstanding efforts and it was
great to see everyone really going hard at it with some great
tackling. Our 2nd quarter proved to be our saving grace with
6 goals and from then on I was getting more and more anxious
that they hadn't broken us yet.
After last week's historical
come from behind against the Roos, we thought it was just
a matter of time before they "flicked the switch"
and just trampled us... but it never happened!! What
a great day !!
Highlight:
1) Some brilliant pieces of play, individual efforts
and a bloody superb game. Burgoyne getting a free just before
a bounce. We watched this brilliant piece of academy award
material unfold and he pulled it off.
Lowlight:
1) None
