"So goodbye Adelaide
Crows, where the dogs of society howl..." And the Power
just keeps on rolling on !!!! Sweet! Top game of footy
and even sweeter that we came back from 5 goals down to beat
the Cows.
Bit of an extended report. Conny
and me, well, we got down to Footy Park at around 12:30pm
and got a nice park pretty easily. Walked to the grounds and
saw all these organised people cooking barbies and smelling
all those snags sizzling made us hungry. As we got closer,
we heard Triple M playing from an Outside Broadcast van and
as we made our way closer we say the Triple M "RRRAACKS
FOOTBALL" team broadcasting live from the truck. So we
were there for about half hour and got some great snags with
bread thanks to the Free sausage sizzle they were having.
Into the ground about 1pm and went for a nice pint of West
End which was heartily consumed and much enjoyed.
Wandered down to our seats and
watched the "Long Bomb" competition, unravelling
of the banners. The teams came out and it was on. Looked pretty
even at the start and I thought it was going to be a real
see-sawer but the Crows got fired up and made some good centre
breaks to carry the ball quickly through the corridor and
get it forward for some pretty good goals. So there we are,
5 goals down, end of the 1st quarter, thinking "We can
come back from this."
2nd quarter started and 'BANG'
another Crows goal and I started to think, "Uh-oh, bit
of trouble here" but as Mark told me, "Have faith"
and I did and we started coming back with some great pressure
work to keep the Crows from scoring any other goals during
the entire 2nd and 3rd quarter. Some fantastic defence work
which really saved our arses and some fairly good kicking
for goal.
In the last quarter, they crept
back and kept us REAL honest and I started to get that
sinking feeling that they were going to sneak it but, thankfully,
the siren went and a fantastic victory. We've now won Showdown
3 times in a row and it has helped to consolidate our top
4 aspirations. Yippee.
All players contributed in some
way shape or form but some real gems were Josh Francou ( who
won the Showdown Player medal ) Wanganeen, Primus, Brogan,
Paxman, Mead and Tredrea. Admittedly, it is also good to watch
players like Ricciuto and McLeod who truly standout in the
Crows lineup.
Highlight:
1) Che's desperate kick off the ground from a
Primus deflection for a morale boosting goal. Winning against
the Crows. Suffer !! That has seriously put an end to their
finals campaign.
Lowlight:
1) Dickhead "Couldn't kick the skin off a
rice pudding" Crows supporter behind us who got more
and more silent as the game went on. At the end of the game
I just turned around and gave him the big "YEEEAAHHHH".
Boy, that felt good!
