You know when you're watching
some thriller on TV and the good guys are speeding away from
the bad guys in their car and they're laughing and carrying
on about what they're going to do next and then the car starts
to splutter and the good guy driver starts looking worried
and the good guy accomplice looks over at him with the same
look and then the good guy driver starts muttering and the
car keeps spluttering and then the good guy driver says something
like "Goddamnit! We're outta gas!!" Welcome to Round
20!
Port put the POWER down in the
first half with some crackerjack work in the middle thanks
to Primus and Francou and just blew the margin out to 55 points.
Geelong kicked the last goal of the half and I didn't really
think too much of it. In fact, I was getting selfish and hoping
they wouldn't kick any so that we could keep or raise percentage
as it may be important depending on what happens in the last
2 rounds.
So when they kicked 3 goals
(thankfully their kicking was pretty bad or it could have
been much more serious for us) in the 3rd quarter, people
were starting to get nervous. Jesus Christ, all that work
just to piss it away? I felt that some players are being a
bit too clever, clever like Schofield up forward in the 4th,
trying to outfox 3 Geelong players. Doesn't happen, son. Port
started to pick it up again but were playing really defensive
so that when the ball came back up towards goal, Tredrea was
there on his own with 5 Cats players around him. How's a forward
s'posed to do his job with no backup??
So it ended in our favour. Another
4 points on the board to consolidate our top 4 position. Another
win and the smell of finals in the air. Mmmmmm... aroma!
Highlight:
1) Getting 2 SANFL Cat 1 tickets and watching
the game from the members. Pretty different view from the
Outer. Thanks for the tickets Mr.XXXXXXXX, whoever you are.
2) Footy Park in silence during the last post for the Vietnam
Vets.
Lowlight:
1) The 3rd quarter where it looked like they forgot
how to play footy.!
