The Mighty Port Adelaide Football Club
Round 15
V Port Adelaide Power
Sydney
13.14 (92)
Port Adelaide
14.10 (94)

Well, holy shit! What a crap game but a brilliant ending. 8 on the trot is even better. Both teams were just as intense as the othe but they were playing exactly the same game so it see-sawed all afternoon and even after the final siren.

Really haven't got much to say on this one because it was so tight and close. Sydney seemed to be playing our game with an previously unseen level of intensity. They worked out of the midfield really well and Matty was certainly beaten in ruck today, even though he still had some outsatnding efforts around the ground. There were opportunities for both teams to get further ahead but poor kicking fekked that for them.

When we ran the goals game quickly and at one point about 20 minutes into the last quarter we finally got ahead by 15 points which seemed like a decent margin if we could hold it, considering the game was so close. But a quick turnaround saw Big Barry Hall kick a goal with 30 seconds left on the clock. I was watching the game over Mark and Fran's place and when, unbeliveably, the break from centre favoured us and went straight to Schofield then into the hands of Poulton inside the 50, it was an incredible high. Then we held our breath as we watched the clock countdown 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0 seconds while Poulton was lining it up. He composed himself with the score Sydney 13.14 (92) to Port 13.10 (88). The camera angle was behind the goals and when he booted it it looked like it was pulling right but then it just came back for a goal and I jumped out of my seat with my arms in the air, absolutely thrilled. Our jubilant players ran inand all piled on to Poulton in sheer joy.

It was a great win by a single effort and a dream that every kid plays out in the backyard with their footy. He dedicated the win to a friend who died in a car accident a week before which was very moving. Brilliant.

On another note, it will be very interesting to note what becomes of Nathan Buckley at the tribunal on Tuesday night after he wiped some of his blood on Cameron Ling's (Geelong) guernsey after Ling harassed him all game. I don't think Eddie will get him off this time.

Ladder:
