ARPA Choir at Resthaven, Paradise Gardens, S.A. 17th.May 2006
This is a very friendly four-part (SATB) community choir.
Musical Director - Daphne Harris.
We welcome all singers, but are particularly in need of (guess!) more tenors.
If you can't read music, you can bring a small tape-recorder
Practices take place weekly from 9.30am to 11.30am on Thursdays, unless we have a performance that day.
2008 Programme
We take a 6 week break over Christmas/New Year.
Venue - Illoura Village, 157 Beulah Road, Norwood.
Enter through main door, then turn right, past Kiosk and through double doors to Worship Centre.
Parking on street, buses 122-5 on Norwood Parade (Stop 10), 102-6 on Magill Road (Stop 8),
walk down Queen Street to Beulah Road.
Circle Line - 100 buses pass Beulah Road (Stop 144) only a block from Queen Street.
Performances: we aim to give at least two concerts for older folk each month,
on weekday afternoons or mornings, at Retirement Homes and Community Centres.
Our one-hour programmes are musically varied,
and selected to cheer and entertain. They include solo items & comedy acts.
When the performance ends, our hosts usually give us afternoon tea.
What to wear - Ladies - long black skirt, black shoes (not sandals) & black stockings,
plain coloured blouse worn outside the skirt, with sleeves at least long enough to cover the elbow.
Gentlemen - plain dark suit, black shoes, white shirt, discreet tie of your choice.
The concert schedule is set at the beginning of the year - since few of us can guarantee to be at every performance,
this gives us the chance to ensure that our average of 15 singers turn up for any one concert.
In addition to ARPA membership, we each contribute $3 per practice, 50c. if absent,
which goes towards paying our accompanist.
