BF2AUS News

We get asked so many questions about the mod on a regular basis that we have decided to compile a FAQ of Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What is the Australian Forces mod about?
A:
Battlefield 2: Australian Forces is a singleplayer and multiplayer modification for the team-based modern warfare game Battlefield 2. The aim of the Australian Forces modification is to replace the United States forces with Australian forces; including new player, weapon and vehicles skins, HUD changes, and new weapons and vehicles in future releases.

We aim to base the mod as closely to the real ADF as possible, although we make no excuses for sometimes sacrificing this realism to keep the gameplay balanced and fun in terms of the Battlefield 2 universe - after all, that is why we play and develop mods!

Q: What is the history of the Australian Forces mod?
A: Battlefield 2: Australian Forces was officially founded on July 18th 2005 by arkanis50, although work on the mod was well underway the day after the Battlefield 2 demo was released. Initially the first content completed was a simple reskin that turned the US flag into the Australian Flag, then it progressed onto woodland uniforms and HUD icons; the first public release of the mod was version 0.1 on the 29th of September 2005.

From that public first release, there were literally over a hundred emails and PM's of query, support and offers of help in the following weeks. Suddenly, what had started off as a one man mod team had suddenly doubled with the inclusion of Brother Estapol, who offered to help model weapons. As the months followed, several more members joined the team, each with their own unique experiences and skills... and the rest is history. They say that "from little things, big things grow", and Battlefield 2: Australian Forces has grown in leaps and bounds.

Q: Will I need the Special Forces or European Forces add-ons to play Australian Forces?
A:
No. Retail Battlefield 2 with the latest patch is all you need to play Australian Forces.

Q: How I go about joining the mod team?
A:
We are always looking for talented people to join the team. To make the best mod we can, we are looking for people with a high-level of skill and/or experience in their chosen field, such as 3D model-making or map making, and have the time to commit to the mod for a considerable period of time. Regular/reliable internet access is also a must, as we need to be able to contact one another on a regular basis. If you think you are up to the task, please contact us by email and ask to send through some samples of your work - please do not send samples of your work via email without asking beforehand, as it will potentially be treated as spam and deleted.

Q: I am currently serving in, or have served in the ADF - do you require any assistance with authenticity?
A:
We currently have several ex-ADF members working on the mod, and along with the great library that is the Internet, we generally have enough expertise to get it right 99% of the time. Although if you do see anything that looks completely wrong, we are always open to reading feedback on how to improve the mod.

Q: What is all this crap on your site about 'living the dream'? You guys sound like you are up yourselves... seriously?
A:
We are up ourselves... seriously. Why else would we call our team Figjam Entertainment?
