Located just a short stroll from the heart of Cairns, the backpacker capital of Tropical North Queensland, Asylum Cairns Backpacker Hostel offers award-winning service within a warm, friendly and party-oriented atmosphere. Chill out by day under the palm trees in our lounge area and parkbenches to music or a movie, take a dip and sunbathe by the pool, or surf the internet on our computer facilities. By night, after a free dinner or our $4 all-you-can eat BBQ on Fridays, it's time to get out your booze, get to know your fellow inmates, slap the goon, take advantage of our "No Curfew" policy (being "reasonably considerate" to the neighbours, of course!). Bringing your own alcohol to the hostel is permitted (and highly recommended!).

Every Monday, join us on the ultimate night of insanity, madness, and political incorrectness as we tear up the Cairns nightclubs with the infamous Mad Monday Party and Bar Crawl. Some things are just too good to mention, but we are allowed to tell you that a sobering pizza slice at the end of the night, dinner, free internet, and a sexy t-shirt is included among other things!

Where we are

The Cairns hostel is located a short distance (5-10 minute walk) from the Cairns City Centre on the corner of Grafton and Minnie Street opposite a small park.

Trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Rainforest

Talk to our staff about trips to the Great Barrier Reef for diving and snorkelling, Cape Tribulation's beach and rainforests, and the various waterfalls and swimming holes around the North Queensland area. We offer discounts and free baggage storage for overnight and "live-aboard" tours booked at the hostel reception.
