The Society of the Black Rose was created in 1995 by myself and a friend of mine, Mistress Charlotte. Our aim was to help create more of a social forum for Goths and other people interested in all things Dark and Deadly. One of the main components of the Society was its bimonthly publication: The Journal of the Black Rose The Journal featured short stories, poetry, artwork, film & book reviews as well as features on places and shops of interest. For the more social among us, who are tired of the only "scene" being the local nightclub, the Society organised gatherings and tours. In the past we have had tours of the Melbourne General Cemetery, a Murder & Mysteries Tour of Melbourne, Film nights, and our fabulous Dusk & Decadence Picnics. The Picnics were always an enjoyable part of summer here as it gave a nice social setting with a touch of the unusual (watching the bats fly overhead from the Botanical Gardens is always nice). If and when I get time to put things back on I certainly will. But for now it was fun.
