Second Captain's Company of the Green Band London Trayned Bandes Worn to my very first attendance of Taminick Military Encampment. It was my first official re-enacting event, even though I've been hanging around the fringes of re-enacting society for many years. In keeping with with the historical aims of Living History the costume was made to be a close to the real thing as possibly - though I drew the line at hand sewing the whole thing! The breeches and coat are made from cashmere wool which was about the closest I could find to something of the appropriate weight. They're both lined with linen and have imitation horn buttons. These are going to be changed to pewter buttons once I get enough together. The hose ties were linen while the hose were cotton. They, as well as the latchet shoes, were borrowed from a friend.
The hat is a felt base with feathers and a velvet band. The backsword is probably about 50 years too early but I think it serves well enough for the present moment. The hanger and scabbard had been made many years ago by a friend of mine. I need to move on to armour and gloves but it all takes time. |
