The Modern RegimentIn October of 2004 two Melbourne people decided that they wanted to reactivate the dormant Victorian file of the Pike & Musket Society. Over conversation and a few beverages they decided that they'd much rather form a Royalist group than the Parliamentarian London Trained Bands. Further research yielded information on Sir Marmaduke Rawdon an officer of the Red Regiment of the London Trained Bands who declared for the King and was given permission to form a regiment. The modern group meets for pike drill on the second Sunday of each month at the Yarra Bend Park Golf Course, Walmer Street, Kew, opposite the Villa Alba Historic Home. At the present time we don't have any musketeers but there are people in the process of getting the appropriate equipment together.
Some photos of the current group will be up here as soon as I can get them scanned.
If you have any queries about the group please contact The Serjeant.
