Vecnar
Vecnar

The Wizards' Council RPG club

A very early wizard costume, mostly made by my Mum while I was in High School. The name Vecnar was a corruption of Vector by a friend who was constantly mispronouncing things. The name stuck.

Vector as played by Clive RevellInspired by the wizard Vector from the Wizards & Warriors TV show, it was mostly made of black cotton and a pinkish flannel. At the time no-one I knew had any idea how to make felt caps or standup collars.

All the jewellery was either raided from Mum's stuff or picked up at op-shops. The dagger was a saikes-fairburne combat dagger which was perfectly legal to own at the time.

The staff was made from a gum tree sapling that had fallen down which I then then stained, carved and varnished by myself during lunch hours in the school woodwork room.

The beard, moustache and eyebrows were put on to make me look a little older (as I said I was still in High School).

I made a variation on the wizard costume some years later that was born from the ashes of the first Vector costume.

This version had a red cloak instead of the black one, no velvet trim, less fabric in the robe and was thus considerably cooler. There was still the array of baubles and what-not hanging from the belt and while the belt buckle was the same the belt itself had been replaced with a red one to match the collar and cloak.

This wizard did get to carry a sword though.
