Rebma
The City deep in the Undersea
Rebma is the capital city of the Rebmai and exists deep beneath the Sea off the coast near Amber. Immersed
in salty water, the city has no climate save for the tides and currents
of the sea itself. Sunlight is softened by the water and even during the
day the city has shadows. Seaweed is the major vegetation and creatures of the sea like Dolphinae are common.
Rebma was founded millenia ago by Lir and the Undine. The whole city is like but unlike the original Amber: the buildings have octogonal windows of glass and there are mirrors everywhere. Lir and the Undine have faded into myth but the Royal family of Rebma is descended from both of them.
The recently rebuilt stairway of Faiella-bionin, named for the princess
of Rebma who married Oberon of Amber, winds down from one beach near to
Amber to massive gates of wrought gold and marble. From there, the city
itself is octogonal in shape, with streets radiating out from the plaza
at the center where the marble statues of Lir and his dolphins reside.
Llewella is the modern Queen of the Rebmai after the return from exile,
and she has allowed her brother Eric to live here also. They spoke with
each other in private and no others know what they said to each other.

Rebma is matriarchal and descent is usually traced through the women of the line. Their culture has changed over the years of exile and now has some polynesian features but the basic matriarchy has remained the same.
The known Royal Family of Rebma is as follows:
Lir and the Undine had one daughter, Moins.
Moins had daughters Moire, Faiella, and Llewella.
Moire had one child, Morganthe, and one grand-child, Martin.
Faiella was the mother of Eric, Corwin, and Deirdre.
Llewella is mother to Arianrodh and grand-mother to Mirya.
Deirdre had one known daughter, Mora.
Mora has one daughter, Simone.
Mirya has one daughter, Meriem, and one son as yet unborn.
Rebmai themselves are adapted to their underwater lifestyle. Their eyes are often green or blue and hazel is the rarest colour. They often have hair in shades of black, green, azure, or violet. Red hair is the rarest colour. All those of Rebmai ancestry can breathe the waters of the Undersea and suffer no ill effects from the massive pressure and cold of the depths. Sea-magics are rare but on the increase as Llewella teaches her people. The ancient stairway of Faiella-bionin is the bridge between land and sea: those who walk along it are granted the Rebmai gifts, but only on the bridge and inside the City itself. Rebma also houses one of the Patterns of Order.
