The Siemens MRI scanners all share the same operating software, NUMARIS.
Its a powerful and flexible package in its commercial form, but users have
a habit of wanting to do things that the Erlangen / Iselin teams might
not have thought about. Additionally there is a lot more in the software
than the manuals discuss
So.....
This page is intended to collate odd bits of information about NUMARIS.
The sorts of information that your applications specialist probably never
told you. Tricks for screen layouts, or under documented facilities.
Things that were put in for test purposes but can help some users. Ways
of making the scanners do things the manuals don't talk about. Guides
to help enhance your understanding of how the scanner thinks.
I don't suggest you fiddle aimlessly with the software; an MRI scanner is no place for a hacker. But in conjunction with a sympathetic service engineer, the Functional Description books, Trouble Shooting Guides, and most importantly the Software manual, careful exploration an ingenuity can pay off. Just remember, there are no guarantees here.
Please feel free to add your experience and suggestions to these pages. Lets see where it goes.
