It all started a week before the killings when Archie called a young girl a prostitute. The girls boyfriend, An Phong Ngoc ``Nick'' Nguyen, 21, took offence to this comment and demanded an apology from Archie. Not wanting trouble Archie told Nick that he was only joking around and apologised for the remark. He stupidly thought that this was the end of it.

But Nick wasn't as forgiving as he had seemed. For the following week he thought about how Archie had insulted his young girlfriend, and must have eventually snapped one night.

Nick, his girlfriend, and his mates got together one night and decided to pay a little visit to our hero Archie.

"Nick'' Nguyen pounded on Bunchien's door at 3 a.m., demanding that he apologise for calling the girl a prostitute again. Archie once again said sorry, but this wasn't enough for Nick (who was probably being egged on by his pals) who punched poor Archie in the face.

Archie, no doubt scared shitless, pulled out a pistol and decided to defend himself. Seeing that he no longer had the upper hand Nguyen ran, but Archie wasn't leaving it unfinished. He chased Nguyen. Nguyen called to the girl, who was still in the car, to get a gun, according to Archie. Two young men, who had gotten out of the car to join in the bashing of Archie, jumped back in, and Nguyen followed.

"Archie'' Bunchien, 22, chased the visitor 70 feet down his driveway and pumped four to seven bullets into each of the victims, killing all. Bunchien pistol was empty by the time it was over. None of his victims were armed, and no weapon was found in the car.

Archie was arrested and charged with murder, but when it came to court the jury seemed to find something that they liked about him - they took his word that he believed there was a gun in the car, and that he really did fear for his life. they also seemed to ignore the fact that each of the victims had more that 4 bullets each in them. They acquitted him.
