Gamero, 28, a lawyer, cut his hair like Martin, dressed like him and imitated his accent. Even the vanity plates on his blue 1999 Volkswagen Derby read "Ricky Martin." That alone would almost be enough to get him a place on this site, but Juan had a much darker side that guaranteed his place here, even if he probably didn't kill anyone.

Gamero was probably just seen as a bit of a loony in Tijuana, where he lived, until a19-year-old San Diego woman walked into a Mexican police station stating that she had been drugged and raped by a man that looked exactly like Ricky Martin. It was the third case of this sort, with all of the victims travelling to Tijuana from San Diego for a weekend of partying. All the victims were tall, slender women with short blonde hair and all admitted that they were attracted to "Ricky"

The police decided the best place to start would be to canvas local bars and almost straight away they came across a man that not only looked like Martin, he even had people call him "Ricky"

Ricardo Paregrina, a bartender at Señor Frog's, a popular Tijuana nightspot where Gamero was a regular, said: "He came in here frequently, but he wasn't very friendly to staff. He was always surrounded by really attractive women because they thought they were talking to Ricky Martin."

Juan Kaunasich Gamero was arrested on March 31 when Tijuana detectives pinched him as he allegedly preyed on another unsuspecting woman. I guess it was her lucky night.

Five more women came forward following his arrest but he was only charged with the 3 rapes. He's also being investigated for molesting two 12-year-olds. Police expect even more victims to come forward.

Police were able to come up with his M.O. from victims testimony, I'll leave it to Detective Alejandro Avilez Lopez to explain:

"He had tremendous confidence, he was everything you'd expect Ricky Martin to be, Everything matched. But after he'd make his move, he would pretend to talk on his cellular phone to a cousin."

"Then he'd ask the victims to come along for a ride to the cousin's house and they would believe it was Ricky Martin driving."

The probe led to one of Tijuana's squalid barrios and Gamero's rundown apartment. There, Lopez said, the false Don Juan would lock the doors and his charming demeanour would melt away.

"They'd know he wasn't Ricky Martin then," Lopez said. "He would hit them with his fists as he raped them. Most remember very little because he had drugged them in the bar.

"He would keep them prisoner for four to six hours, raping them repeatedly and verbally abusing the girls. 'It's your fault,' he'd yell. 'You want me, you know who I am.' "

After detectives arrested Gamero, they discovered a photo album that contained pictures of the "Ricky" with his victims. Most were so drugged they had no idea these were even taken. I think it's a fair assumption form the evidence that Juan will probably be spending the next few years in prison.
