I don't
know a lot about Guy Georges, only what I was able to read
on several online news-sites.
If you are able to fill in the blanks feel free to email me
with the full facts (with full credit going to you)
We'll start this very brief
bio with a word from Mr. Georges psychiatrists. Several
said, at his court hearing, that Georges was a "narcissistic
psychopath," and one doctor likened him to a cat that
catches birds through natural impulse. They also warned that
he could not be cured of his desire to kill. Sounds like a
fun guy, huh?
"He is a
diabolical personality...the incarnation of evil"
- Public Prosecutor Evelyne Lesieur.
So what
did he do?
He killed 7 'attractive young women who appeared energetic
and successful'. The murders took place in Paris between
1991 and 1997, with most being claimed near the Bastille in
the east of the city. He stabbed all of his victims to
death.
Anything odd about the case?
He was briefly detained in 1995 but was freed following
limited DNA tests. It was not until after the seventh
killing in 1997 that magistrates ordered detailed DNA tests
that implicated Georges in at least four of the murders. He
was finally arrested in 1998.
What did he get?
Life in prison. Apparently life usually means around 22
years in France, but Georges promised the court that he
would not serve that amount of time.
Why?
I think I'll let Mr. Georges explain this one: "The sentence
that you are going to impose on me is nothing, I will
inflict a sentence upon myself," he said. "Twenty two years.
That's nothing. Life is life. You can rest assured, I will
never leave prison. But I can tell you that I won't serve
this sentence."
Anything Else?
At the time of his sentencing in April of 2001 he was
38-years-old.
