Bom-Kon Woo

Bom-Kon Woo, a man largely ignored by all western media, decided that he had had enough on April 26, 1982.

He was a 27-year-old policeman in South Korea.

He'd had a fight with his girlfriend and took to the piss, drinking himself stupid. He then went off his fucking head. He took two Korean War vintage M2 carbines and started to take revenge. But first he broke into an unguarded armoury where he stole a shitload of ammunition and grenades, just to make sure he was totally prepared.

Over the next few hours Woo strolled from village to village shooting, stabbing and exploding anything that moved. Eye-witnesses have said that there were mutilated corpses laying about everywhere you looked in one village. The police eventually caught up with Woo, but he was too quick for them, and with darkness descending Woo was able to sneak thorough the forest, almost reaching his starting point. When the police finally caught up with him Woo was left with no alternative - He blew himself to Hell with his final grenade.

Interesting Bit
Following Bom-Kon Woo's rampage the Korean government introduced stronger mental stability checks for police officers, and not before time one would think.
 

MY OPINION

The most unheralded killer of the past 20 years. How someone can kill 52 people but never be known as anything more than a footnote is beyond me. I've never read anything about this guy in any major crime authors books, except Brian Lane, which shows just how biased the major media are toward Asian nations. Anyway that's my whinge over. I would love to actually know heaps about this guy, unfortunately I only know the basics, and that's what you have just read. A great effort anyway, shame we don't know a little more.
