Well my daughter, Cassie, has really come on during the past couple of months. She had a good road season and went to the National road championships in Bendigo in July and came a creditable seventh.
She trained during the road season on the track which, with the road training gave her an edge over some of the other girls.
Come October the track season started and Cassie found that she had immediate success. She had certainly become quite a bit stronger during the winter.
She went to the Victorian Xmas carnivals and rode in the under 15 races with quite some success. Cassie competed in the State championships at the begining of January and won three gold medals in the flying 200 metre, the sprint and the 500 metre time trial, a silver in the scratch race and a bronze in the 2000 metre individual pursuit.
With this achivement she was selected in the South Australian national cycling team to compete in Perth from 22nd to 27th. February.

She went to Perth rode the 500 metre time trial and got 12th. but rode a personal best time as she did in the 2 kilo individule pursuit. However in the scratch race she fell and lost quite a bit of skin but what was worse, she was badly bruised all down one side. This bruising put her out of the flying 200metre and therefore the sprint. The times achieved by the other rides would have put her about 5th or sixth in the flying 200 metre.
