Australian Singles Charts Chart Acreditations: Gold = 35 000 copies sold. Platinum = 70 000 copies sold! Mariah has achieved major success in Australia. Under her belt are two #1 smash hits ('Fantasy' and 'We Belong Together'), three #2 hits and fifteen songs that have achieved a placing in the Top 10. You wouldn't believe it, but Australian charts are very hard to break into, and are usually dominated by local artists. Although it may not appear to be all that spectacular, Mariah's achievments here are legendary, and her music continues to chart over one and a half decades after her original release! 'Music Box', 'Daydream' & 'Butterfly' were all number one albums. 'Merry Christmas' came close and peaked on the chart at #2 way back in 1994/1995. As well as these hit albums, Mariah has also had six additional albums reach the top ten on the ARIA album chart. Of important note, 'Music Box' also earn't Mariah several awards downunder, including the "International Female Artist of the Year" award at the 1994 ARIA Awards. (ARIA Awards can be likened to the Grammy's in America). The album also won two additional ARIA's. The album also ranked as the highest selling in 1994.
