The  GREAT WALL OF CHINA (Wanli ch'ang ch'eng)  

The Great Wall extends some 2400 km (1500 Miles) from Bohai in northern Hebei to Jiuquan in Northwest Gansu.   
The wall is built from various material; such as Granite, rocks Clay and also timber. Along its length the wall is marked by towers several stories in height.

Ayres Rock - Uluru  Northern Territory Australia

A reddish brown monolith,  the World's largest rock  in central Australia, it rises steeply 2,844 feet (867 m).        The Rock is situated in the arid Aboriginal  reserve 250 miles (400km)  from Alice Springs, Northern Territory. 
The base of the rock is approximately 6 miles (10km) in circumference.  It was discovered by Sir Henry Ayres in 1872. 
 


   

STONEHENGE  (Salisbury Northern England) 

Circa 1,500 BC  Remains of a temple built by the Neolithic farmers who settled in Britain around 2,000 B.C.   
The old temple consisted of a circular embankment with a mean diameter of 320 feet (98 meters) The highest upright still standing is 20 feet (6 meters)  tall.



The PARTHENON  Acropolis, Greece . 

The Principal temple at Acropolis, Athens built between 447 and 432 BC. The temple was dedicated to the Greek Goddess Athena Partenos.   
The Temple has a massive foundation extending over 20 feet down to the native rock.

The PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT

The Pyramids of Egypt may be divided in two groups: 
Those built during the Third and the Seventeenth Dynasty.  Eight of these still remain in the neighborhood of Memphis, west of the Nile. 
A larger number of Pyramids were built during the 25th Dynasty by the rulers of Egypt and by their successors.  

 

THE COLOSSEUM  ROME

The largest and most famous Roman amphitheater built by Emperor Vespasian and dedicated by his son Titus in 80 A.D.  Domitian son of Titus made the final constructions.
The last recorded Beast hunt  by gladiators held in the Colosseum was in  A. D. 523



GRAND CANYON      Grand Canyon National Park  USA 

This canyon was curved by the Mighty Colorado River
This mile deep (1.6km), 217   miles long (350km) and 10 miles wide (16km), at it's widest point, Canyon, one of 
the Natural Wonders of the World, lies in  Arizona, U.S.A.

ANGEL FALLS Venezuela

Waterfall in Southeastern Venezuela, on the Rio Churún. It is the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world, dropping 979 m (3212 ft) from the mesa of Auyántepuí in the rain forest of the  Guyana Highlands. 
It was named after the American aviator and adventurer James C. Angel, who discovered it  in 1935. 

 
     

NIAGARA  FALLS     North America

The great waterfalls on the Niagara River in western New York and southeastern Ontario.  These Falls consist of two cataracts: the Canadian, or Horseshoe, Falls (49 m/161 ft high), on the Canadian side of the river, and the American Falls (51 m/167 ft high), on the U.S. side.  
The waterfalls are separated by Goat Island, New York. Niagara Falls was formed about 12,000 years ago, when glaciers retreated north, allowing water from Lake Erie to flow over the Niagara Escarpment.

 

THE GREAT BARRIER REEF  Queensland,  Australia

Great Barrier Reef, chain of coral reefs in the Coral Sea, off the northeastern coast of Australia. The largest deposit of coral in the world, the reef extends about 2010 km (1250 miles) from a point near Mackay, Queensland, to the Torres Strait, which lies between Australia and New Guinea. 
The channel that separates the reef from the Australian coast varies in width. Certain northern parts of the reef are as close as 16 km (10 miles) to the coast. In the south, the channel reaches a width of about 240 km (about 150 miles).  



   

VICTORIA FALLS  Mosi-Oa-Tunya 

World famous waterfall, south central Africa, on the Zambezi River, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The river, here nearly 1.6 km (1 mile) wide, plunges about 122 m (about 400 ft). A railroad bridge, completed in 1905, spans the gorge below the falls. 
The name Victoria was given to the falls by the Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone, who visited it in 1855.   

HAGAR QIM  Malta

One of several  megalithic temples  found on the islands of Malta and Gozo, dating from the New Stone Age (7000-3000 BC) Also known as the Neolithic Period.   These temples were built by the Skorba people who inhabited the Islands around 3,800 - 2,200 BC. 
The buildings were constructed from soft limestone found nearby. One of the stone pillar measures 22 feet high and weighs several tons. 
These huge stone temples were constructed by the Neolithic man and are dated much earlier than the Pyramids of Egypt (2575 to 2465 BC). and Stonehenge (2800 - 1800 BC) of  the British Isles
