Prepare Yourself

The following thoughts come from the club member's handbook. Apply them to your own situation or come and join in.

Steady, persistent and hard efforts will produce miracles. Hard work and application (diligence) are central to the practice of Bushido (the way of martial arts) and help us overcome the difficult times or situations we all encounter.

Sweep pre-occupying thoughts from your mind before training. Try to empty your thinking of everything other than karate and what you wish to learn at the time.

Concentrate on all movements with the maximum effort, focus and power, and do this every time you train. If you wish to achieve a lot, you will not gain this through only trying a little.

Karate practice must be finished by observing the essential idea that karate begins and ends with courtesy.

Yu Ki Do? Never heard of us?

Yu means Brave and Ki means Mind.
Together Yu ki means Spirit in the sense of Courage.
Do means Path, Way or Method as in Bushido, the way of the warrior.
The Gate on the club Badge is a symbol meaning entrance to or beginning.
We take the whole symbol to mean that Yu Ki Do is the ...
