This Closed Circuit Camera System was installed as per Australian Standard AS/ACIF S009:2001 “This Standard defines technical requirements for the installation or repair of customer cabling and customer
equipment that is connected, or intended to be connected, to a telecommunications network.” These CCTV Systems where connected via Symetric DSL, a form of DSL that has the same upload and download bandwidth.
This particular installation has 16 Cameras and the capacity to grow to 48 with additonal equipment, with remote TCP/IP monitoring via the internet and DVD Archival facility.
The image below shows the traditional manner in which power cabling has been managed in the past.
Coax cables are terminated at the DVR and the power cables are left long enough to extend up to a shelf which contains 4 Power Supplies, terminal strips are then used to Bus the power to every camera. This is an on site labour intensive task taking a couple of hours just to do the power terminations, if you don’t believe me just try it. Oh and when you wiring in the Bus don’t make a polarity error or you could blow up your 16 DC cameras. Now that the SmartBay product range has been developed this time consuming task is no longer a problem.
