| Adopting Adopting a Samoyed Process Please note this organisation is not a pet shop. It is NOT first in first served. We are looking at the most appropriate home given the foster dog's personality including things like training, age, sex and energy level of each dog and reason to why foster Samoyed is in care. 1. Complete a questionnaire that will explain to us your current living arrangements, lifestyle and determine if you have any past/present experiences with Samoyeds. This questionnaire will be emailed to you once you make contact regarding a dog or inquiry about being placed on our waiting list. It helps us determine if you are suitable home for a Samoyed as a breed, but also in relation to each foster dog's personality. Not every home is suitable for a Samoyed. 2. Coming to meet dog and introducing any existing family dogs to determine if they get along. When you come meet the Samoyed, please don't assume you will be taking the foster Samoyed home. We normally encourage that prospective owners come and "meet & greet", and then go home to think about things over night 'and discuss with family. Please note we also may have 2 or 3 families come and meet the Rescue Samoyed. Meeting the dog does NOT guarantee you being able to adopt the dog. If for some reason you decide you are not ready after consideration, please tell us. We will be happy that you have thought things through and realized there's a few things left to sort out for you to be ready. You can always remain on our waiting list if you still want a Samoyed down the track. We also understand with interstate inquiries that its not always possible to come and meet the dog first. Reasonable exceptions may be made for those living outside of the Sydney/Newcastle area if we feel you are the most suitable home for the foster dog. 3. Adopting dog - All dogs go on a minimum 2 week trial to ensure everyone is happy. You will be expected to arrive to collect dog with a suitable lead, collar and temporary ID tag to take dog home on trial. The tag can be a plastic key tag with contact name and number. We also like to recommend that you keep a Samoyed Rescue tag on dog. Purchase price of dog must be paid prior to taking dog home. You will be filling out legal documentation for council and will need to provide proof of your legal name and current address. It is not uncommon to do a property inspection at the time of adoption. This is to ensure your yard is secure and Samoyed friendly. 4. Once trial is completed ownership is transferred and microchip forms are lodged with our local council. Please note we hope this isn't the end of our relationship. We love regular Sammy updates, photos and Xmas cards. If for some reason problems occur we encourage you to contact your foster carer so that we can help you work through the problem. Costs of Adopting Samoyed Rescue Dogs Costs of dogs are based on a few factors including amount of vet work required, age of dog and breeding of dog. Prices are also set so as not to lessen the value of this beautiful breed, but they are still nothing like ridiculous pet shop prices. Please understand this is not a shop, we are not in it to make money from dogs. This is done for the love of this breed and to help rescue Samoyeds in need. Sorry credit cards and cheques are NOT accepted. These prices are a guide to dogs listed. Prices may very (both up and down) due to special circumstances with dogs in care such as extra vet expenses, training, grooming, food, medications or other expenses incurred by foster dog. Puppies generally aren't sold by us, but are on average sold from registered breeders we can recommend (IF AVAILABLE) from $1300-$1500 for pets. Upto 6 months of age $800 (Baby Puppy) 6.5 months-12 months $750 (Puppy) 1 - 2 years $650 (Junior) 2 - 4 years $550 (Teenager) 4 - 8 years $500 (Adult) 8+ years $400 (Senior) Questionnaire At NSW Samoyed Rescue we take a great deal of care in making sure that everything is perfect for both dog and new owner. Not everyone is suitable to own a Samoyed. As such you will need to consider and answer the following questions before adopting one of these beautiful creatures. CLICK HERE FOR NEW HOME QUESTIONNAIRE
