NAOE SHIZU (mumei) Nanbokucho Mino (K94): katana

NAOE SHIZU, mid koto Mino period;

mei: mumei.
sugata: katana shinogi-zukuri, koshi-zori of 1.2 cm (?), iori-mune.
nagasa: 65.4 cm; width at hamachi 2.89 cm, thickness at hamachi (kasane) 0.72 cm,
width at kissaki 2.16 cm.
nakago: suriage, ha-agari kuri-jiri tip, 2 mekugi-ana, mumei.
hamon: nie-deki kogunome midare and gunome midare with much sunagashi and kinsuji scattered, plus some muneyaki. In upper part many togari-ba.
boshi: long kissaki, midare-komi hakikake with long kaeri.
kitae: jitetsu is itame hada with good grain and jinie and chikei.
horimono: short bo-hi and tsure-hi on each side.

Elegant shape curved katana of Nanbokucho period (1330-1391) which is a shortened and reshaped nagamaki (nagamakinawoshi).
