KANEMOTO, late Edo shinshinto period

mei: “Kanemoto” 兼元
sugata: tanto, hira-zukuri, slight uchi-zori, iori-mune.
nagasa: 18.8 cm; width at hamachi 2.32 cm, thickness at hamachi (kasane) 0.64 cm.
nakago: ubu, ha-agari kurijiri tip, 1 mekugi-ana, ni-ji mei, o-suju-chigai yasurime.
hamon: nie-deki wide notare.
boshi: ko-maru, nie and nioi, with small kaeri.
kitae: jitetsu of itame hada, of good grain, some o-itame, with chikei.

A short tanto of late Edo period style, made by latest generation Kanemoto in Ansei period (1854+), who was a student of Izumi no Kami Kanesada (Mutsu Province).
