~Guy Info~
"You're only young once, and if you do it right, once is enough."
Now I'm not gonna go to all the effort of actually, like, doing research. This page is just a kind of hotch-potch of miscellaneous facts I happen to know or remember about him. Hopefully it's all correct. ^_^.
Guy Sebastian is an Adelaidian who was born in Malaysia. He's got three brothers; his older brother's called Ollie and he's got two younger brothers, Chris and Jeremy. They seem to a a pretty close-knit family. His brothers are musically talented too.
He's 22 years old, was born in Malaysia, and has lived in Adelaide since he was 10.
He went into Australian Idol earlier in the year and made it to the very end, finally edging out NSW's Shannon Noll, who is also a good friend. He's got almost nothing but praise throughout his Idol journey from judges and fellow Idols alike.
He's known for creatively arranging his own songs. He's a great singer and a cool dancer. His style is kind of r&b and he's known for being able to make any kind of song his own.
His trademark is his afro; it started with him being too lazy to cut his hair, but now he can't get rid of it because it's too popular. ^_^. Apparently it takes a fair bit of effort to get it all frizzed out like that, so when he's wearing a cap or beanie or bandana, it means he couldn't be stuffed fixing his hair. The one time he tried to perform covering his 'fro, the judges told him to "go with the 'fro, bro", so now he's stuck with it. ^_^.
His likes include curry, riding his motorbike, Lenny Kravitz-style clothes, writing music and playing golf (badly, apparently ^_^.). He plays cricket to a high level and was in a Division One indoor cricket team and the others on the team reckon he was their best player and that now he's gone they keep losing. ^_^.
He was part of the Christian band/conference, Planet Shakers. He's on at least a couple of their CDs including 'My King' and 'Open Up the Gates'. I know on 'Open up the Gates' he sings 'You are holy' and 'Everything to me' (along with Natalie Ruiz); he sings the same two (different versions) on My King. He's had experience performing in front of crowds not only with Planet Shakers but at his church Paradise (which is a fairly large one).
He plays the piano and guitar. His job was teaching singing at Temple and then Gleeson in Adelaide. He did something else too, I think, but I forget what. Originally he studied medical radiation but found it too depressing and decided to follow his music, teaching singing and studying Music Technology at Adelaide Uni.
His personality is pretty cool and laid back; he's a kind of general nice guy and everyone seems to speak well of him. He seems pretty warm, friendly, thoughtful and calm, with a good sense of humour; he always seems to be in a good mood. Various adjectives judges and other people on the show have used about him include 'quiet', 'shy', 'a rock', 'deep', 'endearing', 'humble', 'approachable', 'well brought up', 'a lovely bloke', 'a fantastic person', 'authentic', 'hard working' and 'fun to work with'. He describes himself as a happy person who loves music.
He seems to like kids. He likes the opportunity to do things like visit hospitals and Ronald McDonald House charity and stuff - to use his position for good.
The longer the Idol contestants stay in the competition, the more things they got to do. Some of the things Guy's done was climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge and get his photo taken for the celebrity Bridge shots, went to the Arias and met John Farnham and Delta Goodrem (who he likes ^_^.), sing at the AFL grand final, sing at a basketball game, dress up like Lenny Kravitz for Rolling Stone magazine, done numerous photo shoots and a music video, done signings, visited hospitals and charities, and done the little tour around Australia. He has appeared on Rove twice, and Good Morning Australia. He always seems to really enjoy and appreciate the things he's gotten the chance to do.
Some of the stars he likes/admires/finds cool include John Farnham, Delta Goodrem, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Stevie Wonder and Lenny Kravitz.
He says he gets along with the Idol blokes really well. He and Shannon are famously good mates, he was pretty close to Levi, and he was often seen joking around with Millsy.
