Mimi in 02"You're only young once, and if you do it right, once is enough."
I apologise for the pathetic quality of the pictures on this page - I'd rather use lousy pictures of my own than good pictures that I've scabbed from someone else. See, my video adapter doesn't like American-format videos... it's pretty sad but these were the very best/least distorted shots I could get.
![]() Mimi is now a pretty, bubbly, outgoing teenager, and seems to have polished her personality, enchancing the kindness. She does not complain/whine much any more - although then, she only pays short-ish visits to the digiworld, and those are voluntary, so she has little reason TO complain. I think she is popular in New York; she threw a party with a lot of friends, and someone commented that Mimi always throws great parties. She just oozes confidence, but is not in the least snobbish - the opposite, in fact, she tries to look for the best in everyone and has faith that everyone else is sincere. Mimi, Joe and Tai each have a new digidestined who particularly look up to them, and who inherit their crests. Mimi's successor is Yolei Inoue, who gets the digiegg of Sincerity (and that of Love). With it, Hawkmon can armour digivolve into Shurimon, the samurai of sincerity. ^_^.

![]() Yolei :: Yolei with digiegg of Sincerity They still have traits in common, though. Here's a little summary of Mimi's roles in the two 02 episodes I have seen with her in them. In episode 6, Mimi visits Japan (by herself; she seems to be able to take care of herself pretty well, she's all sure of herself ^_^.), and walks through Odaiba Elementary (not on a school day) 'for old time's sake'. In doing this, she comes across the new digidestined who are about to go to the digital world for a picnic. Everyone warms to Mimi immediately and invite her to go with them. Mimi has not been in the digital world since that battle against Apocalymon, I think. She looks around herself with great fondness and remembering, and enjoys the picnic. But after Yolei and Hawkmon go off into the bushes alone (chasing a runaway sushi ^_^.), Mimi is worried and goes after them. The three of them somehow fall through the ground into a part of the digital world that is controlled by the Digimon Emporer. At this stage, Mimi meets her old friends, the Gekomon and Otamamon, but they are controlled by dark rings. Palmon saves her, and the two have a tearful, happy reunion. The Digimon Emporer sends the Roachmon brothers to attack the girls, but Yolei and Halsemon, following a plan of Mimi's, lure them to attack the control spire. Mimi is cool at this stage, taking action and using her initiative, pushing lights to direct the Roachmon brothers. The plan works and the girls are safe. Palmon digivolves to break the dark rings. The Gekomon and Otamamon are very happy to see "Princess Mimi" again. Togemon stays to protect the area, and Mimi leaves after a while. Yolei, who is starstruck with Mimi, wishes she could be her sister. She tells Mimi that when she grows up, she wants to be just like her. Mimi looks a little surprised at this (Yolei is quite a long way from her as far as the 'ideals of poise and fashion go'), then gives a thumbs-up and says "perfecto!". (Perfecto being the phrase that Yolei constantly uses. ^_^.) In an episode I can't for the life of me remember the number of, it is found that a digital port has opened up in America. Don't ask me how Mimi can get through this port with her archaic digivice, but somehow she does it. She brings with her a friend, Michael - who ALSO has an old-style digivice. Apparently, different areas of the world were affected in that time four years ago against Myotismon etc, and there were digidestined from other areas. Michael's Digimon is Betamon. The two Americans come into a diner where the digidestined had been stuffing themselves, wracking up a huge bill that they couldn't pay. Michael offers to pay.
![]() Yolei is immediately smitten with Michael, but he seems to have a crush on Mimi, and speaks well of her. Mimi speaks kindly to the gruff proprieter of the cafe where the kids were eating, and trusts him when he claims to have changed since the days he imprisoned Joe and Matt. Digitamamon responds well to Mimi's charms and declares their meals on the house, but Yolei doesn't trust him (with good reason, in my opinion).
![]() Later there is a battle, and Digitamamon protects them. But he is thrown aside, and later returns with a dark spiral inside him. As nobody can see the dark spiral, they don't know he's turned evil, but he claims he always WAS mean. Mimi doesn't believe him and speaks kindly to him, trying to convince him that he has friends and dosn't need to be so belligerant. He responds by attacking her, and everyone is horrified, but she still insists that they shouldn't hurt Digitamamon.
![]() Yolei realises that Mimi is very good at detecting sincerity, and better than she could ever be at judging people fairly and kindly. Yolei's temper is too hot. ^_^. When Yolei vows to be more sincere, her digiegg of sincerity appears, reacts, and Hawkmon becomes Shurimon, capable of extracting Digitamamon's dark spiral. Michael ends up asking Yolei out. ^_^. |
