 an ode to the mavericks
Rubber Souls

Five mighty mavericks
playing at THE Hall
one, he found a sixpence
and then there were four

Four merry mavericks
on stage with Johnny C
One, he found the key of E
and then there were three

Three mellow Mavericks
mooching at the house of blues
One, he found a swag of friends
And then there were two

Two wanderin' mavericks
wonderin' what went wrong
One went off to paint the town
And then there was one

One lonely maverick
his los(s) seemed such a gain
but now today, you've seen him
a cryin' in the rain

but faierie tales of yesteryear
teach us always to believe
that friendships long and magic
are made of stronger weave

and like those troubled waters
there are bridges to be found
where dragonflies are smiling
while revealing common ground

so the road goes on forever
and the journey is the key
one single band of mavericks
one near perfect mystery
