During extended recreational breaks between Mavericks' recording and the heavy tour schedules, Robert has continued to find time to develop many outside interests. These not only include writing songs with various other musicians, but together with Jerry Dale McFadden, assembling a 'flexible band' - simply called SWAG.
The approach of SWAG appears to be that of a no-fixed address, with those musicians from other bands forming a line-up, based on their availabilty at any given time. They now have their own official SWAG website (fancier, but not as much fun as mine!), with an simply animated videoof Lone.Members have included at times - Robert Reynolds, Ken Coomer (Wilco), Jerry Dale McFadden, Doug Powell and Scotty Huff (Havana Horns) and with guestings from Tom Petersson (Cheap Trick).
Initially, their recorded output was generally realesed under a very low-profile, using both the wonderfully resilient technology of good old vinyl (remember those 7" black plastic things, kiddies?) up to the latest in virtual technology, the mp3 (ether-ware?).
Their 'Different Girls' EP (another great throwback to a creative era!) was dually released as an CD (DAM) through www.mp3.com and also as a 1000 copy ( limited edition) 10" vinyl picture disc. (absolutely fabulous!). Other songs have been available as mp3 down loads including a couple of 'Christmas' songs, which already have the magnificent claim to fame of being rejected by those siblings sharing the name Hanson !Their debut album - Catchall, was released through Yep Roc Records. late in 2000 and deservedly received massive critical acclaim. They also guested on Conan O'Brien, 20th April 2001, performing - I'll Get By and have been touring the USA through the middle of 2001, with some shows having been web-casted.
They have also apparently recorded two cover songs, Don't Bring Me Down - for an ELO tribute (understandably), and Early Morning Cold Taxi - for a tribute to The Who's - Sell Out album.File under very jolly pop and major melancholic musings!
