About Mixed Salad Productions

Entertain, Inform, Include, Impress and Enthrall

Our Mission

Mixed Salad Theatre Productions Incorporated is a South Australian theatre company formed in 2003 by Dave Simms and Sally Putnam who share a vision of producing/directing quality productions.

Our mission is to "Entertain, Inform, Include, Impress and Enthrall".

As with any mixed salad we use a range of fresh locally grown ingredients served with a variety of dressings to suit all tastes.

Since our first production of Love! Valour! Compassion! in 2003, Mixed Salad has won multiple awards and gained a reputation for staging brave and new work in South Australia.

Hits such as Five women wearing the same dress, Torch Song Trilogy, The History Boys and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune have definitely put Mixed Salad Productions on the map!

What the critics say:

"The response of the opening night audience could only be described as "relish''. It is the sort of intense and interesting, beautifully-paced and intelligent comedy that, well-performed, has one lost in time and on the edge of one's seat. "

"Congratulations to Mixed Salad for finding this wonderful show."

"I left the theatre delighted with the performance."

"Mixed Salad Productions' reputation precedes them - for both high quality theatre and their outstanding culinary generosity on opening night."

Frankie

What the critics say:

"Mixed Salad has excelled, producing a show that many companies have regarded as too long, too confronting, and just too hard."

"In such considered hands, this play should not be missed."

"As audiences of Mixed Salad Productions have come to expect the Setting, Lighting and costumes all excelled, as did the infamous opening night feast, in keeping with the themes of the play."

Sally Putnam

Sally is an accomplished director. Her successes include directing our award-winning productions of Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de LUne, The History Boys, Rabbit Hole, Torch Song Trilogy, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and Love! Valour! Compassion!

She brings to Mixed Salad a wealth of experience as a drama teacher and behind the scenes as a stage manager.

Sally was workshop co-ordinator and director for Acting for Change. This travelling production was aimed, through drama, at combating growing prejudice and misunderstanding over refugees. She is principal of a primary school in the Adelaide Hills.

Dave Simms

Dave is an experienced actor, having played the lead role in a number of productions in Adelaide including his highly acclaimed performance as Arnold in Torch Song Trilogy and Hector in The History Boys.

Dave, who has a background in radio as a producer and on-air presenter, has been sound designer on several SA productions.

Dave's directing credits include Breezeblock Park and Secret Bridesmaid's Business for St Jude's Players and Two Gentlemen of Verona for Mixed Salad Productions.
