Where We Are.....
Our Fire Station is
located at Northcote Road, Eden Hills, in the state of South Australia,
Australia.
Eden Hills Country
Fire Service is one of five CFS brigades, together with Belair, Blackwood,
Coromandel Valley and Cherry Gardens, which make up the Sturt CFS Group
- covering an urban/rural area.
This group works
together in the area of Craigburn Ward and The Park Ward, of the City
of Mitcham, and sections of the City of Onkaparinga in the State of South
Australia. This area is approximately 9200 hectares in size and comprises
of schools, nursing homes, hospitals and some large shopping complexes
as well as many homes. The Western part of the area alone contains approximately
8000 homes with about 25,000 residents and the majority of the commercial
facilities, schools and aged care facilities. The Eastern parts include
the Belair National Park and is largely rural. The Southern area includes
the Sturt Gorge Recreational Park and the Mt. Bold Reservoir catchment
area,
Because we live in
an urban/rural area, the majority of callouts are urban related. Grass
and scrub fires account for only about 31% of total callouts in the Sturt
CFS Group area. Automatic Fire Alarms are connected to many structures
within our area including nursing homes, hospitals, shopping complexes,
and telephone installations, making up some of our call-outs.
There is a public
transport and interstate freight / transport rail line crossing our area
which carries both large numbers of people and harardous materials through
steep winding lines.
We also have several
heavy traffic roads and a freeway on the edge of our area. Being a hilly
terrain we also have many narrow winding roads and some unsealed roads.
