Cadets....

The youth are our future and a vital resource which is greatly untapped. Since 1983 our group has hosted a formal cadet program for young members aged 12-15 years. Many of our brigade's adult fire-fighters have started their CFS career as cadets. Our cadets are trained in all aspects of CFS operations and do everything that the adult fire-fighters do except attend emergency incidents.

Cadets have a formal parade, weekly training (separate from normal adult training), are supplied uniforms and even take part in hazard reduction controlled burn-offs under strict supervision. The cadets go on a camp each year at varying venues and are treated with responsibility and respect as young adults. Its a great, fun activity in which young people learn fire safety, skills and discipline in a fun environment with others in their own age-group.

Currently our Sturt CFS Group Cadet training is held at the Coromandel Valley CFS Station on Acklands Hill Road, Coromandel Valley, training cadets from the whole group area together.

If you are aged between 12 and 15 years, male or female, live in Eden Hills, Bellevue Heights, Blackwood, Belair, Coromandel Valley or Cherry Gardens and would like to know more about joining our cadets please phone 8370 3600.
