Overview.....

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of fire safety. It is vital that all members of your household know about fire safety and what to do in the event of fire or other emergency.

Too many times lives have been lost because of simple, silly things such as not having a working battery in a smoke alarm. Take the time to learn some basic safety information, purchase some inexpensive equipment (such as smoke alarms, first aid kit and fire extinguishing devices) and follow some basic rules - its not hard to be safe but its worth it. A little effort can make a big difference.

While the information in this section is generalised and limited, we have endeavoured to cover some of the basics of what everyone should know - please seek further information from your local sources. The CFS runs a 24 hour 'Fire Bans Hotline' information service for the public on fire bans, fire prevention and survival advice Telephone 1300 362 361.

We hope that this information will help you stay safe, prevent fires, injuries and loss of life as well as make our job easier!
