Siren

View of siren from the top of our tower
Our
siren, in operation since 1955, used to a be an old World War II air-raid
siren. It lets out a wail that can be heard for several kilometres depending
on the wind strength and direction and the terrain. While this used
to be the only way our members were notified of an emergency incident,
it is still fully functional although now it usually only used as a
back-up to fixed alarm installations and on high fire risk days.
